Elba added: “‘Luther’ has all the ingredients to echo those classic [neo-noir] films of the 90s like ‘Seven’ and ‘Along Came a Spider,’ and I think what we would like to do is use that blueprint to create ‘Luther’ the film.”

He continued: “It will be more murder, more Volvos, more frowning Luther… essentially we just want to try to take it to a much bigger audience and scale, and perhaps international as well.”

Asked where else the show could travel to, beyond its native London,

The Five Best Spongebob Songs of All-Time

Throughout the lifetime of this show a lot of people have either tried to avoid it or have firmly embraced it as one of the funniest and most engaging kids’ shows on TV. Ariana Grande, Tracy Morgan Join Fallon for SNL Xmas Reunion — Watch
Jimmy Fallon has an early Christmas gift for you. (Ariana Grande’s small enough to fit in your stocking, right?)

On Tuesday’s Tonight Show, Fallon reunited with his former SNL castmates Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan and Horatio Santz for an encore performance of “I Wish It Was Christmas Today,” the same holiday tune the quartet first played together on a 2000 episode of SNL. (The original tune was later covered by The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas.) This time, they get an assist from Grande — although, disappointingly, she doesn’t sing at all in the clip. She just stands behind Kattan

Remembering Penny Marshall, Who Forged Her Own Path and Paved the Way for Others
She was a natural comedian — fearless and funny, willing to trade on her natural Bronx brogue to craft a sassy and street-wise character that was tailor-made for sitcoms. After her 1976-1983 run on ABC’s “Laverne & Shirley” made her a household name, Marshall used her skills and her connections to segue into directing. There was no roadmap in the early 1980s for a female TV star to make such a 90-degree turn,

Europe, Hollywood Hail Landmark E.U. Territorial Licensing Agreement

Industry organizations and major companies in Europe and Hollywood welcomed Tuesday a high-level European Union agreement that in large part preserves producers’ ability to sell movies and TV shows on an exclusive territory-by-territory basis.

Territorial licensing is a financial backbone of the film and TV business in Europe. Recognition of such licensing came last Thursday in an E.U. pact over an upcoming ruling on the so-called “country of origin” principle, which would allow a broadcaster in one of the E.U.’s 28 member states to make its online catchup and live-streaming programming available to consumers in other E.U.
