Pete Davidson Shows Christmas Spirit In Brief ‘SNL’ Appearance After Disturbing Post
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson raised a lot of concern on Saturday with an unsettling Instagram post that reportedly triggered a welfare check by NYPD. Hours later, he made a brief appearance on SNL, showing everyone that he was alive and well, and even donned a Christmas-colored outfit to fit in with the show’s Christmas theme and the song that followed him.

Davidson introduced musical guest Miley Cyrus’ performance of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s classic (Happy Xmas) War Is Over, which featured Lennon and Ono’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, as well as Mark Ronson.

This was Davidson’s only live SNL appearance tonight (he was also featured in a pre-recorded skit about new Oscar host auditions). He was not visible during the curtain call at the end of the show when the entire cast gathers on stage.

There Are Now More Shows Streaming Than There Are on Broadcast or Cable

There Are Now More Shows Streaming Than There Are on Broadcast or Cable
We’ve known for some time that we’re in the midst of Peak TV, but now FX has quantified that ongoing phenomenon. Its annual research report reveals that, for the first time ever, streaming shows now outnumber their traditional-tv counterparts. 495 scripted original programs premiered in 2018, 160 of which debuted on a streaming platform; there were 146 on broadcast television, 144 on basic cable, and 45 on pay cable.

That’s compared to 117 streaming shows last year, an increase that stands in sharp contrast to the declines seen by broadcast (153 in 2017) and basic cable (175). FX was kind enough to include a number of charts with its report, one of which shows that new streaming shows accounted for 32 percent of all debuting programs — an eight percent increase from last year.

This development was recently parodied in a “Saturday Night Live” skit presented as an ad for Netflix. “In 2019 we’ll have even more programming to choose from,

Disney Channel Fires ‘Andi Mack’ Actor Arrested for Plotting Sex With Minor
Disney Channel has severed ties with “Andi Mack” actor Stoney Westmoreland following his arrest for allegedly trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old.

“Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series ‘Andi Mack,’ was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” a Disney Channel spokesperson said in a statement Friday. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.”

Westmoreland plays the grandfather on the live-action series. On Friday, according to reports, he was arrested in Utah — where the series films — after attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old that he met through an online dating app. According to reports citing court documents, Westmoreland asked the minor to engage in oral sex and other sexual acts,

Les Moonves Personally Oversaw Eliza Dushku’s $9.5M Settlement For ‘Bull’ Harassment Claims
Exclusive: As accusations of sexual harassment and sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein and others began flooding Hollywood early this year, CBS’ then-ceo Les Moonves stepped in to settle claims against one of the network’s biggest stars.

Moonves was deeply and directly involved in the $9.5 million payout that CBS forked over to Eliza Dushku in January after the actor accused Bull lead Michael Weatherly of sexual harassment on the first season of the CBS drama, we’ve learned. Additionally, the confidential payment was sneaked into Bull’s production budget in an effort apparently motivated to avoid the sum popping up on the company’s books, sources say.

The confidential agreement was struck while CBS was engaging in ultimately unsuccessful talks of a potential merger with Viacom. The settlement and its machinations were not known to then-coo Joe Ianniello, who became acting CEO after Moonves resigned in September after a dozen

Donald Trump Apparently Did Not Like Saturday Night Live's Cold Open This Week

It looks like Donald Trump was not impressed with the way Saturday Night Live lampooned his administration (again) this week.

This week's cold open imagined what Washington might be like right about now if Trump had not won the presidency in 2016, with Alec Baldwin returning to deliver his signature

Pete Davidson Puts in SNL Cameo Hours After Sharing Suicidal Thoughts
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson perhaps surprised some viewers when he appeared on this weekend’s Christmas show, just hours after he published an Instagram post that indicated he was having suicidal thoughts.

Davidson, who has previously been candid about his struggle with mental illness, wrote on Instagram, “I really don’t want to be on this earth anymore,” immediately drawing concern from celebrities and fans.

“I’m doing my best to stay here for you, but I actually don’t know how much longer I can last,” the post read. “All I’ve ever tried to do was help people.

Freeform Mocks Shadowhunters Fan Campaign With Toy Story 'Pop-Up'

Freeform Mocks Shadowhunters Fan Campaign With Toy Story 'Pop-Up'
A joke made during Freeform’s enhanced Saturday airing of Toy Story was no laughing matter for Shadowhunters fans.

As part of the cabler’s “25 Days of Christmas” programming event, Toy Story was presented on Saturday afternoon with “POPnKnowledge” inserts that would deliver trivia or poke fun at events/logic unfolding on-screen (e.g. “If Buzz doesn’t think he’s a toy, why does he freeze around humans?”).

But when Woody at one point consults a Magic 8-Ball, the pop-up pretended he had asked, “Will Freeform save Shadowhunters if I keep tweeting about it?” — with the reply being “Don’T Count On It.

General Hospital Characters We Hated Before We Loved Them

General Hospital fans have not always loved the people we say we love. In fact, there have been times when some of our favorite people on the show were some of our very least favorite people on the show, and that is something we cannot even go into without explaining it a bit better. You see, there are times when someone is so good at what they do that we cannot even believe that we missed out on them for so long. And then there are people who are so good at what they do that when they leave and

The Five Best Michelle Pfeiffer Movies of Her Career

It’s hard to believe that there was a time when Michelle Pfeiffer was a lesser-known actress since for much of her career she’s been a star unlike any other. In many ways she’s been one of those actresses that many take inspiration from and can’t help but admire since she’s been in some of the best films and helped to create some of the greatest characters in cinematic history. But aside from that she’s been a bit understated it feels like now and again, as though her roles are important from a slightly more cultured standpoint than you might see

Matt Damon Hosts SNL: Watch Video of the Best and Worst Sketches

Matt Damon Hosts SNL: Watch Video of the Best and Worst Sketches
Most Saturday Night Live hosts sit out the cold open and Weekend Update. Matt Damon was not of them.

The actor seemed positively giddy to be back hosting SNL for the first time in 16 years. After he reprised his role as Brett Kavanaugh in a star-studded parody of It’s a Wonderful Life, Damon took center stage for an endearing monologue about how he grew up watching the late-night sketch comedy series with his father.

What followed was a solid Christmas episode that tasked Damon with playing both a daddy and a daddy, and (sort of) gave him the chance

Bold and the Beautiful Characters We Hated Before We Loved Them

The Bold and the Beautiful fans are not always big fans of the people who come onto this show. We can remember there were times when we saw someone show up and make an appearance that we did not like. We could remember the times that we didn’t think things would work out at all between others, and there were times that we thought we might just have a moment when we hated someone so much we’d just stop watching the show. There are men and women on here who make poor choices, who do things we do not love,

‘Saturday Night Live’ Review: Matt Damon Closes Out The Year With a Strong Episode

‘Saturday Night Live’ Review: Matt Damon Closes Out The Year With a Strong Episode
While last week’s “Saturday Night Live” decided to put up all of its Christmas lights early this year, this week’s episode, hosted by Matt Damon, with musical guests Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus, is actually the Christmas/holiday episode, as well as the last “SNL” episode of 2018. This season, for the most part, has been fine, and it would be quite the Christmas miracle to get something more than fine to close out the year.

And that’s exactly what happens here.

Host: Matt Damon

It’s crazy to think this is episode marks somehow only Matt Damon’s second time hosting “SNL” (after 16 years), since he’s of course shown up before for guest cameo spots before. (As the reminder in the cold open reminds the audience he’s this show’s Brett Kavanaugh.) But Matt Damon is here to host for only the second time, and

Dr. Strangelove: Satire as Defined by Kubrick

Dr. Strangelove Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb personifies the acme of gallows humor. The 1964 film is configured around the most humorless of subject matters yet succeeds in advancing the narrative by highlighting the absurdity of human nature. The film’s director/visionary achieves comedy where there should be none – thus the comedic genius of Stanley Kubrick. “He was a satirist, and while the comedy in his films was not always blatant, it becomes more apparent when seen through a satirical lens” (Bria). Dr. Strangelove is not a comedy yet has been expertly described as

‘SNL’: Miley Cyrus Joined by Mark Ronson, Sean Lennon for ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’
The last “SNL” of 2018 was one of reflection and hope, and that included the final song by musical guest Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus — a rendition of the John Lennon classic “Happy Xmas (War Is Over)” on which the two were joined by Sean Ono Lennon. The song’s lyrics, “And so this is Christmas / And what have you done / Another year over / A new one just begun,” offered a fitting bookend to a tumultuous year.

The performance was introduced by “SNL” cast member Pete Davidson, who had drawn public concern after a series of social media messages he posted earlier in the day,

Pete Davidson Sits Out Final ‘Saturday Night Live’ Sketches of 2018
Just hours after “Saturday Night Live” cast member Pete Davidson posted a message on social media that said he “really [didn’t] want to be on this Earth anymore,” he was absent from the final 2018 live sketches of the late-night sketch comedy show.

But although Davidson did not take part in the sketches or appear behind the “Weekend Update” desk to deliver one of his famous monologues, he did appear in a pre-taped “Oscar host auditions” segment, during which he played Rami Malek and he also stepped on stage to introduce Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson for their second song of the night.

SNL Spoofs It's a Wonderful Life: What If Trump Was Never Potus? — Watch
What would Washington, D.C. look like if Donald Trump never became president?

Saturday Night Live offered a glimpse at that alternate reality during its fall finale’s cold open, which served up a Trump-centric parody of the classic Christmas flick It’s a Wonderful Life.

Alec Baldwin returned to Studio 8H once again to play Trump, who encountered various members of his administration at a holiday party, all of whom are better off in a world where they never worked for him. After catching up with Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Mike Pence, among others, Trump got reacquainted with his
