‘Saturday Night Live’ Ratings Rise To Tie A Season High With Host Matt Damon
Saturday Night Live‘s last original telecast of 2018, with host Matt Damon, musical guests Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus, and appearances by Robert de Niro, Ben Stiller and Alec Baldwin, averaged a 4.8 Live+same day household rating in the metered markets and a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating in the markets with local people meters.

That was up sharply from last week’s show, hosted by Jason Momoa with musical guest Mumford & Sons to tie the the Sept. 29 SNL season premiere as the highest mark of the season in households and log the second highest result in 18-49 behind the opener.

The Christmas-themed episode followed a headline-making story involving the wellbeing og cast member Pete Davidson who made a brief appearance.

Saturday Night Live was the #1 telecast of the night on the Big 4 networks in both metered-market households and 18-49 in the local people meters,

‘Daredevil’ Actress Says Netflix Was Responsible for Cancelation, Not Marvel

‘Daredevil’ Actress Says Netflix Was Responsible for Cancelation, Not Marvel
Viewers were surprised by the cancellation of “Daredevil” last month; so was the cast. Charlie Cox called it “painful,” and now his castmate Amy Rutberg has said that even “people high up at Marvel” were shocked by the move — and that Netflix was solely responsible for the decision.

“My contacts at Marvel were very surprised. Any of the rumors that it was a Marvel decision are wrong, I think it was purely a Netflix decision. That comes from personal conversations with people high up at Marvel. They were surprised,” said Rutberg in an Inverse interview.

“We had heard rumors we would start production as early as February 2019,” she said. “It’s a little unusual to be that far ahead in the planning and cancel the show, which makes me think Netflix was laboring over whether or not to cancel it. My guess was it was not an easy decision.”

Pete Davidson Shows Christmas Spirit In Brief ‘SNL’ Appearance After Disturbing Post
Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson raised a lot of concern on Saturday with an unsettling Instagram post that reportedly triggered a welfare check by NYPD. Hours later, he made a brief appearance on SNL, showing everyone that he was alive and well, and even donned a Christmas-colored outfit to fit in with the show’s Christmas theme and the song that followed him.

Davidson introduced musical guest Miley Cyrus’ performance of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s classic (Happy Xmas) War Is Over, which featured Lennon and Ono’s son, Sean Ono Lennon, as well as Mark Ronson.

This was Davidson’s only live SNL appearance tonight (he was also featured in a pre-recorded skit about new Oscar host auditions). He was not visible during the curtain call at the end of the show when the entire cast gathers on stage.

Disney Channel Fires ‘Andi Mack’ Actor Arrested for Plotting Sex With Minor
Disney Channel has severed ties with “Andi Mack” actor Stoney Westmoreland following his arrest for allegedly trying to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old.

“Stoney Westmoreland, an actor working on the series ‘Andi Mack,’ was arrested in Salt Lake City today,” a Disney Channel spokesperson said in a statement Friday. “Given the nature of the charges and our responsibility for the welfare of employed minors, we have released him from his recurring role and he will not be returning to work on the series which wraps production on its third season next week.”

Westmoreland plays the grandfather on the live-action series. On Friday, according to reports, he was arrested in Utah — where the series films — after attempting to arrange a sexual encounter with a 13-year-old that he met through an online dating app. According to reports citing court documents, Westmoreland asked the minor to engage in oral sex and other sexual acts,

Les Moonves Personally Oversaw Eliza Dushku’s $9.5M Settlement For ‘Bull’ Harassment Claims

Les Moonves Personally Oversaw Eliza Dushku’s $9.5M Settlement For ‘Bull’ Harassment Claims
Exclusive: As accusations of sexual harassment and sexual assault by Harvey Weinstein and others began flooding Hollywood early this year, CBS’ then-ceo Les Moonves stepped in to settle claims against one of the network’s biggest stars.

Moonves was deeply and directly involved in the $9.5 million payout that CBS forked over to Eliza Dushku in January after the actor accused Bull lead Michael Weatherly of sexual harassment on the first season of the CBS drama, we’ve learned. Additionally, the confidential payment was sneaked into Bull’s production budget in an effort apparently motivated to avoid the sum popping up on the company’s books, sources say.

The confidential agreement was struck while CBS was engaging in ultimately unsuccessful talks of a potential merger with Viacom. The settlement and its machinations were not known to then-coo Joe Ianniello, who became acting CEO after Moonves resigned in September after a dozen

The Best Uses of Billy Currington Songs in Movies or TV

Billy Currington strikes me as one of those individuals that loves the music but doesn’t let himself get so fully involved in the business, thereby kind of keeping him from the kind of fame and fortune that others have struck. That could be erroneous however since he’s been around for a while and has been trying to stay relevant and do what he can to enjoy what he does and still make a living with it. He’s won an award in his time and been nominated for several, but it would almost seem as though he came to the party

10 Things You Didn’t Know about Rush Limbaugh

In the long history the world there are many polarizing characters that are known to draw a line in the metaphorical sand for people to cross. Rush Limbaugh is one of those that wouldn’t even draw the line, he’d likely tell those that didn’t want to see his point of view to go soak their heads in the ocean while he and his followers stayed on dry land. That might seem unkind, but the man isn’t exactly apologetic in the way he goes after certain individuals and even groups of people when it comes to trying to have his say.

Fuller House: Is Stephanie Bisexual? Where Is Urkel Being Buried? Plus More Burning Questions From Season 4

Fuller House: Is Stephanie Bisexual? Where Is Urkel Being Buried? Plus More Burning Questions From Season 4
Family sitcoms aren’t exactly known for throwing curveballs, but as we binged Fuller House‘s fourth season this weekend, we found ourselves pleasantly blindsided by the Tanner clan’s more outlandish antics. And now that we’ve made it through all 13 episodes, we have so many questions.

Yes, our list includes some obvious dangling threads (What will Stephanie and Jimmy name their baby?!), but we were also captivated by some of the season’s alleged throwaway lines. For example, was Steve and D.J.’s big La La Land homage merely a collective hallucination? Where is Steve Urkel’s body (eventually) being buried?

The Five Best Jon Pardi Songs of His Career

There are two major directions that country artists seem to travel in when it comes to trying to get famous, either to Nashville or to California. Jon Pardi traveled east to Nashville in order to make his fame, having been born and raised in California. He started writing music when he was just a teenager and continued to follow his passion all the way back to the place where so many other artists have gone seeking to make it big. So far he’s done fairly well for himself as he’s been nominated for several awards and won a couple as

Hulu’s Asmr-Inspired Holiday Videos Put a Tingle in Jingle Bells

Hulu wants viewers to turn up the volume for a good cause this year and stream its two new Asmr-inspired scenics, the latest in the streaming service’s slow-tv answer to the famed Yule log after last year’s “Puppies Crash Christmas.”

For the uninitiated, Asmr stands for “autonomous sensory meridian response,” a perceptual phenomenon in which a person experiences a physical tingling around the scalp, neck, and shoulders upon being exposed to sensory stimuli – usually auditory. The Asmr trend has inspired countless YouTube videos in which influencers whisper or manufacture noises intended to evoke the response.

“What Asmr really triggers is when you cue those visuals images in that moment with something that’s very audio-driven. It adds a level of sensory,” said Hulu’s VP of brand marketing and culture, Nick Tran.

The Best Uses of Dwight Yoakam Songs in Movies or TV

Dwight Yoakam is a honky tonk kind of singer that originally wasn’t expected to go all that far since his brand of country music wasn’t considered to be marketable when he made his way into the industry. There’s no telling what might have happened in his life if he’d stayed in college but he dropped out early on account of the fact that he made his way to Los Angeles in the hopes of becoming a recording artist. He didn’t really burst onto the scene as he might have wanted but he was determined enough and willing to give it

The Voice's Season 15 Winner Will Be…

With Adamgate at last behind The Voice — well, except for the lingering aftertaste — and the Finals just ahead (Monday at 8/7c on NBC), the time has come to evaluate the remaining quartet of singers’ chances of being named Season 15’s winner. Before Tuesday’s Top 8 eliminations, I was sure that 14-year-old superstar-in-the-making Kennedy Holmes was a lock. But since she was neither among the top three vote-getters (who automatically advanced to the finals) nor the week’s most-streamed artist, I’ve had to reevaluate her chances. Read on, and I’ll reveal who I now think will walk away with the title,

Days of Our Lives Characters We Hated Before We Loved Them

Days of Our Lives fans know a thing or two about love and hate, and that is precisely what makes this show so great. We all know that there are people we can get on board with, people we cannot, and people who make it their mission in life to see if they can make us all miserable. But, we also know that there are couples who make better partners than others. There are people who make better friends than others. There are people who cannot get their lives together no matter how hard they try. There are some things

Quotes of the Week: Single Parents, Riverdale, Titans, Arrowverse and More
TVLine readers, we may have told you a bit of a white lie.

Though we fully intended for last Sunday’s Quotes of the Week roundup to be our last one of the year, the past seven days of television simply delivered too many quality sound bites to pass up.

Without further ado, we present the real final photo gallery (seriously, we mean it this time), before our Quotes of the Year compilation makes its debut next week.

This time around, we’ve got a disappointing Christmas gift for one of the Clearys on The Kids Are Alright, some intentional political correctness on Superstore,

‘SNL’ Holds Oscar Host Auditions to Replace Kevin Hart

‘SNL’ Holds Oscar Host Auditions to Replace Kevin Hart
Now that Kevin Hart has been relieved of his hosting duties, the Oscars need to find a replacement. IndieWire has a number of worthy candidates to consider — including Dwayne Johnson, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Awkwafina — and so, it turns out, does “Saturday Night Live.” Last night’s episode featured a pre-recorded audition segment featuring the cast members doing their best celebrity impressions, including Matt Damon’s take on Matthew McConaughey.

“The search for a new host begins,” says the video’s narrator. “Who will risk everything for the chance to gain nothing?” Cut to Ego Nwodim as Tiffany Haddish (“She ready!”), Kate McKinnon as Michelle Wolf, and Pete Davidson as Rami Malek

That marked Davidson’s only appearance on the show other than announcing musical guests Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson’s second performance. Earlier in the day, he posted disturbing a message on Instagram saying, “I really don’t want

One Day at a Time is expanding on the Alvarez family tree in TVLine’s first look at Season 3 (with all 13 episodes hitting Netflix on Friday, Feb. 8).

As previously reported, Law & Order: Svu vet Danny Pino has been cast as Penelope’s brother Tito on the acclaimed Netflix sitcom. In the following photo, the Alvarez clan is out to dinner, presumably in honor of Tito’s arrival. Brother and sister are mid-toast, while the always-effervescent Lydia cannot be contained to her seat.

One Day at a Time is also making a love connection in 2019 — and producers didn’t have to
