‘SNL’: Leslie Jones Takes The Mic In ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Parody

‘SNL’: Leslie Jones Takes The Mic In ‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ Parody
On the same night that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel was collecting the Producers Guild award for top comedy series, the show received a more elusive honor: a parody short on Saturday Night Live.

Rachel Brosnahan hosted the show and appeared as her award-winning title character for the spoof, The Raunchiest Miss Rita, which is set at the smoke-filled Gaslight Cafe. (Watch the clip above or below.)

After a custodian named Rita May Johnson congratulates her on her set, Maisel encourages her to give stand-up a try.”No, not me,” Johnson demurs. “What would I even talk about?” Replies Maisel, now the mentor instead of the up-and-comer. “Just be honest. Say what’s on your mind.”

Cut to Jones-as-Johnson working extremely blue, delivering a string of bawdy jokes revolving around sex. While tentative at the start, uncertain how the downtown (and distinctly white) crowd will react, she quickly gets validation from the adoring roars of laughter.

‘True Detective’ Review: Episode 3 Shows Why Relationships Matter More Than the Case
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “True Detective” Season 3, Episode 3, “The Big Never.”]

Hoo boy, a whole lot happened in “True Detective” this week! Turns out the Purcell kids didn’t go over to Ronnie’s house as many times as they say they did — so who were they seeing? The evidence in William’s recovered backpack points to an adult — who else would buy all those toys for him? How does the communion photo figure into all this, given Will’s body was left in a similar, praying pose after his death? And what about the dice, the bloody rocks, and the house near the suspected murder site? Speaking of the woods, what did Wayne (Mahershala Ali) leave in the woods? Amelia’s ghost seems to think he’s covering something up, so it’s not just the aging detective’s deteriorating memory that’s holding up the investigation. Plus, now there’s a mysterious

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “Providence,” the 12th episode of “Outlander” Season 4.

There were two competing narratives on “Outlander” this week — one that was largely invented for the show but was a very clever way to keep a certain character involved, and another that was also changed a bit from the novel, causing it to feel like a shameless play at the viewers’ emotions. Let’s dig into the clever one first.

In Wilmington, Fergus (Cesar Domboy) informed the Regulators of Murtagh’s (Duncan Lacroix) capture by the Red Coats. They quickly realized that

The Best Uses of Bread Songs in Movies or TV

After reading about them the band known as Bread didn’t seem to be among those that were meant to be together for a long time thanks to the fits and spurts that the band actually stayed as a cohesive unit. Their name came from the fact that two of the founding members were sitting behind a bread truck in traffic at one time, which isn’t too bad considering how so many other bands have gotten their names over the years. But after hitting the charts and climbing to a respectable position they ended up breaking up only to reunite a

Crazy Ex Star Skylar Astin Teases Greg and Rebecca's Love 'Complications,' His Bruce Springsteen-Style Song
Meet the new Greg… not exactly the same as the old Greg.

For its final season, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has brought back Rebecca’s former love Greg — but now he’s played by Pitch Perfect star Skylar Astin, instead of original cast member Santino Fontana. (Of course, this being Crazy Ex, they didn’t hide the fact that a entirely new actor was playing Greg; Rebecca didn’t even recognize him at first.) Greg has changed, though, and not just physically. He’s in recovery for alcoholism, and seems like a much more stable romantic partner for Rebecca than last time we saw him.
