Sam Richardson Is Pretty Ticked Off, and It’s Kind of Great

Sam Richardson Is Pretty Ticked Off, and It’s Kind of Great
For an actor whose onscreen persona is built around being the nicest guy in the room, Sam Richardson is audibly angry over the fate of his first series, “Detroiters.”

“I should be more careful how I speak, I guess, because we’re still trying to sell the show to whoever we can, and I guess I don’t want Comedy Central to nix the deal because of my loose lips,” Richardson said in an interview with IndieWire. “But at the same time, I’m also very frustrated.”

There is no evident salvation awaiting “Detroiters.” Despite Comedy Central’s attempts to sell the show, support from various critics, and even an open letter from Seth Meyers, a last-second renewal is a long-shot six months after cancellation. What’s left is a show with a legacy worth preserving and an actor, producer, and creator who deserves to create more projects of his own.

‘Barry’ Trailer: Get Ready for Even More NoHo Hank in Season 2
“Emmy Winner Henry Winkler” is one of those phrases that’s just gratifying to see on a title card, especially now that it’s true. A quick five months after both he and star Bill Hader picked up awards for their work on the HBO show “Barry,” it looks like both actors are back for more of what made the first season one of 2018’s most enjoyable watches.

The network released a new trailer on Friday, showing how the title character is moving on from some truly fateful decisions at the close of Season 1. Gene (Winkler) still thinks his girlfriend is alive, while Barry (Hader) is covering up his lingering guilt with a new gig at what appears to be an athletic wear store. Aside from his forays into the world of retail, both Barry and Sally (Sarah Goldberg) are back on stage in Gene’s theater class.

‘Desus & Mero,’ With Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Tow, Gives Late-Night a New Attitude (Column)
Desus & Mero” — the late-night series that made its debut on Showtime Thursday — isn’t new, precisely. The hosts Desus Nice and the Kid Mero, who make an art form of embroidering wit and delicious flourishes of delivery onto frank talk, had previously had a show similar in format on the Viceland channel. But there’s no denying that Showtime gives the pair greater visibility and access; not merely does airing as the only late-night show on the premium cabler put the series instantly in conversation with its counterpart on HBO, the Emmy-winning “Last Week Tonight,” but also does it
