‘Manifest’ Gets Order For Three Additional Episodes From NBC

  • Deadline
‘Manifest’ Gets Order For Three Additional Episodes From NBC
NBC has picked up three episodes of breakout new drama Manifest, bringing the total freshman episode count to 16.

The size of the order, which is below full-season 22 episodes, is not surprising. Shorter-run seasons — between 13 and 18 episodes — have become the norm for heavily serialized broadcast dramas, including NBC’s This Is Us, Fox’s Empire and ABC’s How To Get Away with Murder.

So far this fall “Manifest” has averaged a 3.9 rating in adults 18-49 and 17.2 million viewers in L+7, making it television’s #1 new series in both measures. Counting all entertainment programs on broadcast and cable, “Manifest” ranks #4 in L+7 adult 18-49 averages behind only “This Is Us,” “The Walking Dead” and “The Big Bang Theory” and #2 in total viewers behind only “Big Bang.” Adding in alternate platform viewing raises the “Manifest” L+7 18-49 rating to a 5.1.

“Manifest” stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J.R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise,

Mipcom Wrap: Stars Shine, Deals Get Done as Industry Weighs ‘The Big Shift’

The TV sands are shifting and attendance numbers of 13,800 were flat, but the mood was upbeat at Mipcom this week. The stars came out, even if the sun mostly didn’t, and new shows were announced, sold, and financed even as the industry continues to grapple with the impact of digital and a wave of consolidation.

The studios were once the Mipcom power brokers – its October timing works well, with fall-season launches on U.S. broadcast networks – but the market chatter now centers on Netflix and Amazon as much as Warner Bros. or Disney. Reed Midem, which organizes Mipcom, captured

‘Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle’ Trailer: SundanceTV Doc Series Reenacts the 1978 Mass Death at People’s Temple

The history and aftermath of the Jonestown commune is still difficult to comprehend, whether you’re talking about it or trying to show the kind of devotion that would drive so many followers to lose their lives. Yet the new docuseries “Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle” will look to dissect as much of the tragic saga as possible in four parts, airing next month on SundanceTV.

The series follows eventual Jonestown leader Jim Jones from his origins as a civil rights-oriented preacher to the creation of Peoples Temple and through the group’s move to Guyana. It was there that over 900 of Jones’ followers died. Through archival footage and recently declassified federal intel, “Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle” outlines the deaths that happened both voluntarily and by force.

TV Review: ‘Making a Murderer Part 2’

When it landed on Netflix in 2015, the documentary series “Making a Murderer” was a near-instant sensation, with both the internet commentariat and the national media expressing strong views about the case of Steven Avery and his unfortunate nephew, Brendan Dassey, two Wisconsin men convicted of a 2005 murder. The show became, for a while, something bigger than a hit show; it was, at least for some weeks, the nation’s central discussion topic, sitting at a nexus of high-toned entertainment and real-world horror.

Filmmakers Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi, in the opening moments of their second installment of “Making a Murderer,

Halloween's Michael Myers Gets the Making a Murderer Treatment on Corden

Halloween's Michael Myers Gets the Making a Murderer Treatment on Corden
Step aside, Steven Avery: There’s a new Making a Murderer subject in town. James Corden on Thursday gave Halloween‘s Michael Myers the true-crime treatment, combining elements of the iconic slasher franchise and the Netflix phenomenon to create a parody we didn’t know we needed until now.

In “Making a Halloween Murderer,” Corden’s Myers is imprisoned for a 40-year-old crime he says he didn’t commit. The authorities are convinced they have the right guy in custody, even after speaking to his close friend Jason “The Voormeister” Voorhees (“We used to murder so many… beers.”), but

The Flash Television Show Gets the “Honest Trailers” Treatment

Screenjunkies has become world famous because of how amazing their “honest trailers” series is. While the site was great before this, I personally believe their honest trailers has really put them on the mainstream media map. Virtually every one of these nails whatever show or movie they are mocking. It’s no different this time with The CW’s The Flash. The Flash has been a stable on the CW so clearly it was time to give the show the honest treatment. The season you’ll see below covered the Flashpoint alternate timeline. However, as you’ll see, this trailer decides to cover all

Peter Dinklage Has Nothing in Common with Hervé Villechaize – The ‘Fantasy Island’ Star Was His Greatest Acting Challenge

Peter Dinklage Has Nothing in Common with Hervé Villechaize – The ‘Fantasy Island’ Star Was His Greatest Acting Challenge
Game of Thrones” aside, Peter Dinklage is not one for epics — in his last two films, he largely starred opposite only one other person. “Obviously, it depends on who you’re working with,” he said. “But if you’re lucky to work with [Jamie Dornan] or Elle Fanning, it’s a joy. That’s all I want to do for the rest of my career, just two people,” he said.

Thus, he’s prioritizing working with a director like Reed Morano on the post-apocalyptic indie film “I Think We’re Alone Now,” or bringing to life the eccentric and fascinating Hervé Villechaize for passion project “My Dinner With Hervé,” the upcoming HBO original film about the days leading up to the death of the “Fantasy Island” star.

Jamie Dornan co-stars in the role of a fictional London journalist who serves as an analog for director Sacha Gervasi (“Anvil: The Story of Anvil
