‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Review: Matt Murdock’s Return Could Hit Harder, but It Represents a Major Improvement

‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Review: Matt Murdock’s Return Could Hit Harder, but It Represents a Major Improvement
Matt Murdock seems tired but wired, and that may be the best part of “Marvel’s Daredevil” Season 3, which represents a recovery — of sorts — for the series that initially launched the Netflix/Marvel universe.

It’s strange to remember the intense anticipation around “Daredevil” Season 1. While at that time there were no shortage of shows featuring superheroes on television, including “Marvel’s Agents of Shield” and Greg Berlanti’s ever-expanding empire of CW/DC adaptations, “Daredevil” promised to be the gritty, grown-up version — then-showrunner Steven S. DeKnight said the inspiration was “to lean more towards ‘The Wire’ than ‘Smallville.'”

After more than three years years and five additional new spinoffs of varying quality, though, the feelings inspired by the launch of a new Netflix/Marvel series might lean more towards exhaustion than excitement. After all, this is the fourth new Marvel launch of the year from this universe, coming

‘The Cool Kids’ Gets Back 9 Pickup From Fox For Full-Season Order

‘The Cool Kids’ Gets Back 9 Pickup From Fox For Full-Season Order
Fox has picked up nine additional episodes of new multi-camera comedy series The Cool Kids, bringing the full-season order to 22 episodes. It joins its Friday companion, the breakout Last Man Standing revival, which had a full-season 22-episode order from the start.

The Cool Kids has done a respectable job holding onto a significant part of its Last Man Standing lead-in. The Season 7 premiere of the Tim Allen starrer drew a 2.7 Live+7 adults 18-49 rating and 13.4 million multi-platform viewers to date to rank as the most-watched Friday regular comedy telecast on any network in 15 years, and Fox’s most-watched comedy on any night in 4 1/2 years. Leading out of that, the debut of The Cool Kids was the most-watched Friday broadcast comedy debut in almost six years. While both shows slipped in Week 2, Last Man Standing‘s ratings actually ticked up in Week 3 while The Cool Kids stabilized with a very small dip.

‘Will & Grace’ Co-Creator Doesn’t Want to See Tim Allen Get Political on ‘Last Man Standing’

‘Will & Grace’ Co-Creator Doesn’t Want to See Tim Allen Get Political on ‘Last Man Standing’
“Will and Grace” is no stranger to politics – its latest season features discussions about immigration, President Trump and a host of other topics – but that doesn’t mean show co-creator Max Mutchnick thinks every show should follow suit.

“It depends on the tone – everything is about tone – and our characters are able to talk about what they want to talk about because of the way they were initially built, so it really depends,” Mutchnik told Variety at Friday’s annual Glsen Respect Awards held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. “I want to hear the cast of ‘Will & Grace’ talk,

10 Great Movies That Feature Gigantic Animals Killing People

As far as I’m concerned, movies that feature enormous animals eating, dismembering, eviscerating, disembowling or otherwise destroying human beings is a recipe for success. And I’m talking big, super dangerous animals here, so take your Birds and Bats and Snakes on a Plane and shove ’em. Not all movies with this formula are mindless — anyone who’s read Moby Dick can tell you that the story runs much deeper than the quest to kill a whale — but even the cruddiest movies where oversized animals treat people like Rosie O’Donnell treats french fries is worth watching. After the jump, take

‘Luke Cage’ Canceled by Netflix and Marvel After Two Seasons, Joining ‘Iron Fist’

‘Luke Cage’ Canceled by Netflix and Marvel After Two Seasons, Joining ‘Iron Fist’
Just a week after “Iron Fist” was canceled, Marvel and Netflix have axed another series after two seasons: “Luke Cage.” The superhero drama was considerably more well-received than “Iron Fist,” but that apparently wasn’t enough to save it. Mike Colter starred as the title character, who enjoys superhuman strength and was the first black superhero to receive his own comic book; Cage also appeared in both the first season of “Jessica Jones” and “The Defenders,” a crossover series essentially serving as the small-screen equivalent of “The Avengers.”

“Unfortunately, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season,” said a joint statement from Netflix and Marvel. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.”

The show, which premiered

Ratings: Last Man Standing Slips But Still Tops Night, Crazy Ex Holds at 0.1

Fox’s Last Man Standing this Friday drew 6.2 million total viewers and a 1.2 rating, slipping two tenths in the demo to mark a revival low, yet still dominating the night in that key measure.

Leading out of that, The Cool Kids (4.6 mil/0.9) — which also just got a full-season order — dipped a tenth.

Elsewhere….

CBS | MacGyver (6.1 mil/0.7) ticked down, while Hawaii Five-0 (7.3 mil/0.8) and Blue Bloods (8.3 mil/0.8) held steady, with the latter commanding (as it does) Friday’s biggest audience.

NBC | Blindspot (3 mil/0.5) matched its season premiere.

The CW | Dynasty (650K/0.2) and Crazy Ex (420K/0.1) were steady.

ABC | Fresh Off the Boat (3 mil/0.6) ticked up,

General Hospital’s Best Male Character Transformations

General Hospital fans know which women have had the biggest character transformations over the past few years, but what about the men? Are they as crazy as the women, or are they really just having the time of their lives making some big decisions and making it known that they have a lot to do and a lot riding on what they are offering? We aren’t entirely certain that they can make the biggest and best decisions in their lives, but sometimes the men are just a little bit more unsure of who they are than the women, and that
