‘Westworld’s’ Shannon Woodward to Produce Series Based on Nxivm Sex Cult
Annapurna Television is developing a scripted series inspired by the alleged sex cult NXIVM, with “Westworld” actress Shannon Woodward attached to executive produce.

The potential series is based on the New York Times report about the group published last year. The report, authored by Barry Meier, featured interviews with multiple women who said the purported self-help group, led by Keith Raniere, recruited women to serve as “slaves” and branded them with Raniere’s initials.

No writer is attached yet, but Woodward will executive produce along with Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle and Susan Goldberg of Annapurna.

The group has come under renewed interest in recent weeks, after Raniere was arrested in Mexico last month on charges of sex trafficking. “Smallville” star Allison Mack, who was identified as Raniere’s top lieutenant in the Times report, was arrested last week.

Alan Ball’s Drama ‘Here and Now’ Canceled By HBO After One Season

Alan Ball’s Drama ‘Here and Now’ Canceled By HBO After One Season
Exclusive: HBO is not renewing Alan Ball’s family drama Here and Now for a second season. The news comes 10 days after the series’ Season 1 finale.

“After careful consideration we have decided not to move forward with a second season of Here and Now,” HBO said in a statement to Deadline. “We thank Alan for his dedication to innovative storytelling, and we look forward to his next endeavor.”

Here and Now, which starred Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter, stemmed from Ball’s close relationship with the previous HBO regimes. It was a rare miss for the Oscar and Emmy winner, creator of HBO’s signature series True Blood and Six Feet Under and executive producer of Cinemax’s biggest hit Banshee. In addition to a lukewarm reception from critics, Here and Now also drew modest viewership for an HBO drama series, averaging 300,000-400,000 Live+same day viewers for the premiere telecast.

Lauren Cohan to Return to ‘The Walking Dead’ for Season 9

Lauren Cohan to Return to ‘The Walking Dead’ for Season 9
Even after the final episode of AMC's The Walking Dead Season 8 aired, it was unclear if one of the top-rated drama's major characters would be returning for the next season. Maggie Greene, played by Lauren Cohan, has become an emotional, practical, and increasingly powerful player in the Walking Dead narrative, so it was understandable that fans were concerned for Cohan's well-being and Maggie's part to play in the story to come. The uncertainty, however, had nothing to do with plot points, Walkers, or the savage Saviors at all but rather the mundane complications …

‘Double Dare’ to Reboot on Nickelodeon This Summer (Video)
This summer, it’s time to take the physical challenge again: Nickelodeon is rebooting classic kids’ game show “Double Dare” (again) with a 40-episode order.

Nick has yet to announce a host or other talent, though the Viacom cable channel says its new version will “feature appearances from blasts from the past, long-time ‘Double Dare’ fans and stars from today.”

In case you missed the ’80s and ’90s game show or its 2000 revival, “Double Dare” features two teams competing to win prizes by answering brain-bending trivia questions, completing messy, physical stunts and ultimately facing the infamous obstacle course: The human hamster wheel, the classic gigantic mouth, the wringer and the iconic “Double Dare” nose, per Nick’s official description.

Still not ringing a bell? Watch Nick’s teaser/look-back via the video above.

The original “Double Dare” and “Family Double Dare,” both hosted by Marc Summers, combined for a run from 1986-1993 on Nick. The format was rebooted for one season at the turn of the century as “Double Dare 2000.”

Nickelodeon also filmed a “Double Dare” special at Comic Con 2016.

A rep for Summers did not immediately respond to TheWrap‘s question about any potential involvement as host or producer. Summers produced “Double Dare 2000” and has stayed busy lately as an executive producer on food and restaurant shows.

Donald Trump Dodges Michael Cohen, Praises Kanye West And Anderson Cooper In ‘Fox & Friends’ Phoner

A revved up President Donald Trump called in to Fox & Friends this morning to wish his personal attorney Michael Cohen well in taking the Fifth, but insisted the FBI raid on Cohen has nothing to do with him.
