‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Heads to Monster $225+ Million Opening Weekend

‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Heads to Monster $225+ Million Opening Weekend
In case you haven’t heard, “Avengers: Infinity War” is heading towards an opening weekend that could end all opening weekends.

The Marvel superhero adventure is eyeing a debut weekend of $225 million to $245 million, with a possibility of even crossing the $250 million mark. If numbers reach the end of that range, “Infinity War” could have one of the biggest debuts of all time. The hefty launch should go a long way to justify its wildly expensive price tag of somewhere from $300 million to $400 million.

As of now, the biggest opening weekend of all time belongs to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” which bowed with $248 million in 2015 and went on to make over $936.6 million domestically. Only five films in history have hit the $200 million mark in their debuts.

“Infinity War” picks up two years after the events of “Captain America: Civil War” with the Avengers teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy

Alden Ehrenreich Has a 3-Movie Deal as Han Solo
It looks like we may be seeing more young Han Solo showing up in the future. Alden Ehrenreich is set to portray the legendary smuggler in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which arrives in theaters next month. While there are a lot of questions marks about that movie specifically and the future of the Star Wars franchise, Lucasfilm is prepared to bring Ehrenreich back as Han Solo, as the actor has confirmed he has a three movie deal with the studio.

Alden Ehrenreich has some very big shoes to fill. Really, it's hard to imagine bigger shoes to fill than taking up the mantle of Harrison Ford's Han Solo, but that's what the 28-year-old actor has on his shoulders. In a recent interview leading up to the release of Solo, Ehrenreich was asked about his deal with Lucasfilm. He was clearly a bit unsure if he was supposed to

Rumor: Disney Reportedly Looking To Cast Brie Larson in Snow White Spinoff Film Rose Red

Rumor: Disney Reportedly Looking To Cast Brie Larson in Snow White Spinoff Film Rose Red
According to a new rumor, Disney is developing a new live-action Snow White spinoff film called Rose Red and they are looking to cast Captain Marvel star Brie Larson in the lead role. It seems like another role that she would be perfect for.

The story is a revisionist take that transposes Rose Red into the Snow White tale, making her a key player in the later moments of the classic story. When Snow White takes a bite from the iconic poison apple and falls into her Sleeping Death, her estranged sister, Rose Red, must undertake a dangerous quest with Grumpy and the other dwarfs to find a way to break the curse and bring Snow White back to life.

This is definitely an interesting and fresh cinematic approach to taking on the classic fairytale. There's no director attached to the project yet, but apparently, the studio is currently on the hunt for one.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Sequel Confirmed For Christmas 2019 and Dwayne Johnson Will Return

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle Sequel Confirmed For Christmas 2019 and Dwayne Johnson Will Return
Sony Pictures chairman Tom Rothman confirmed at CinemaCon that the upcoming sequel to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle will be released in theaters on Christmas 2019. He also confirmed that Dwayne Johnson will return to reprise his role and Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan are also expected to return but that hasn't been confirmed.

Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle was a huge success for Sony Pictures. It's made over $956 million dollars, and it recently became Sony's highest grossing domestic release of all time beating out Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Audiences loved this movie and the studio betting that they will all return for a sequel. The upcoming film is already in development and is being written by Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner. There's no director attached to the film yet, but Jake Kasdan directed the Welcome To The Jungle film. I imagine the studio will try to bring the director back on board if they can.

Mia Farrow Didn’t Want Dylan Farrow to Talk About Woody Allen Sex Abuse Claims

Mia Farrow Didn’t Want Dylan Farrow to Talk About Woody Allen Sex Abuse Claims
Mia Farrow expanded on the tumultuous year her children have had, revealing that she originally didn’t want her daughter Dylan to go public with her story of alleged abuse at the hands of Farrow’s ex-partner Woody Allen.

“I just wanted it all to go away,” Farrow said at the Time 100 gala Tuesday night. “I did not want to resurrect — it was a horrible chapter for all of us, but I also understood and respected that she needed to do that and she wanted to be part of the Me Too movement and have her voice heard.”

Dylan Farrow’s accusations against her father first came to light during Farrow and Allen’s split in the ’90s; she spoke about them for the first time publicly in 2014, and then wrote an op-ed for the Los Angeles Times in December 2017 questioning why the now-popular Me Too movement had left out Allen.

Hank Azaria Says He’s ‘Happy and Willing to Step Aside’ as Voice of Apu on ‘The Simpsons’ (Video)

Hank Azaria Says He’s ‘Happy and Willing to Step Aside’ as Voice of Apu on ‘The Simpsons’ (Video)
Three weeks after an episode of “The Simpsons” tried — and failed — to quell criticism of the character Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, Hank Azaria, who voices Apu on the animated series, says he is willing to step down from the role to make things right.

Appearing on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” to promote his IFC series “Brockmire,” Azaria said he’s “given this a lot of thought, and as I say my eyes have been opened. I think the most important thing is we have to listen to South Asian people, Indian people in this country when they talk about what they feel, how they think about this character, and what their American experience of it [is].

Azaria added that “listening to voices means inclusion in the writer’s room. I really want to see Indians, South Asian writers in the room. Not in a token way, but genuinely informing whatever new direction this character may take. Including how it is voiced, or not voiced.”

“I’m perfectly happy and willing to step aside,” Azaria continued. “or help transition it into something new. I really hope that’s what ‘The Simpsons’ does, it not only makes sense, it just feels like the right thing to do to me.”

Criticism of the character intensified in 2017 with the release of “The Problem With Apu” a documentary by filmmaker Hari Kondabolu that studied the effects of negative stereotypes perpetuated by the character.

On Twitter, Kondabolu thanked Azaria for his remarks.

Thank you, @HankAzaria. I appreciate what you said & how you said it. https://t.co/Otmxygf3DP

This isn’t Azaria’ first time addressing the criticism. Earlier this year at TCA’s winter conference, Azaria talked about having seen the documentary and said at the time “The idea that anybody, young or old, past or present, was bullied or teased or worse based on the character of Apu … it’s distressing.”

Melissa McCarthy Snorts Ecstasy With Sex Crazed Puppets in ‘Happytime Murders’

Melissa McCarthy Snorts Ecstasy With Sex Crazed Puppets in ‘Happytime Murders’
Melissa McCarthy snorting ecstasy with a bunch of sex-crazed muppet castoffs was the foul-mouthed highlight of Stx’s CinemaCon presentation on Tuesday night.

The Happytime Murders,” the film in question, seems certain to shatter quite a number of childhood memories and taboos, and presents the newbie studio with perhaps its best chance at major box office success. McCarthy produces and headlines the hard R comedy, which is directed by Brian Henson, the head of the Jim Henson Company and a puppeteer in his own right. Footage from the film featured puppets offering oral sex to McCarthy, cursing like teamsters, and, in one uproarious scene, ejaculating all over a dingy office. The whole thing makes “Ted” look like “Fraggle Rock.”

Since launching in 2014, Stx has struggled at times to find its footing. It scored with the “Bad Moms” movies and “The Foreigner,” but other pictures such as “Free State of Jones

Stx Previews Female-Fronted Features, R-Rated Puppets at CinemaCon
Melissa McCarthy and a group of puppets that would very likely be rejected from Sesame Street elicited a big response during Stx's CinemaCon presentation on Tuesday.

The very R-rated trailer for The Happytime Murders featured graphic puppet sex and McCarthy snorting ecstasy through a piece of licorice, as well as copious amounts of puppet homicides. Brian Henson (son of Jim) directed the movie that centers on a foul-mouthed cop (McCarthy) and her puppet partner who are tasked with uncovering the identify of a serial killer targeting puppets.

The text in the trailer warned, “No Sesame. All Street.”

Melissa McCarthy’s ‘The Happytime Murders': Gritty, Gross, Hilarious First Look

Melissa McCarthy’s ‘The Happytime Murders': Gritty, Gross, Hilarious First Look
Melissa McCarthy’s dark puppet satire “The Happytime Murders” was intriguing on announcement last year, but American movie theater owners got a significant look at what they’re in for during CinemaCon’s closing presentation on Tuesday.

Directed by Brian Henson (son of Jim Henson, creator of The Muppets) and unveiled during Stx Films’ turn on stage, McCarthy’s puppet romp is as dirty, violent and outrageously funny as any individual genre title we’ve seen thus far.

McCarthy plays a human detective with a puppet partner, a rough trailer played for the exhibitors showed, who go off in search of justice for some fallen colleagues.

Solicitation (“You looking for some rotten cotton?” one of the grimier sex workers taunts), oral sex offers for less than a dollar, freebasing ecstasy through Twizzlers and brass-kunckle street fights were all included. And all of that was perpetrated by the puppets.

The closing scene featured a lengthy male puppet’s orgasm that resulted in quite a bit of silly string. It’s serious raunch to be coupled with the company who produced the beloved Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy. But the theater owners were screaming for it.

Read the full “Happytime Murders” synopsis:

Set in the underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans co-exist, “The Happytime Murders” tells the comedic tale of two clashing detectives, one human and the other a puppet, who are forced to work together to solve the mystery of who is brutally murdering the former cast of “The Happytime Gang,” a beloved classic puppet show.

Henson Alternative and On the Day Productions produce alongside Stx.

Todd Berger, Dee Robertson, Erich and John Hoeber wrote the script which also got a pass from Melissa McCarthy. The film will hit theaters this October.
