"The Lord of the Rings" TV Series: Explore Amazon’s Map of Middle-earth Here

  • The Wrap
Amazon has released one map to rule them all.

The official Twitter account for Prime Video’s upcoming “The Lord of the Rings” TV series shared a link to a map of J.R.R. Tolkien’s fictional Middle-earth on Friday morning.

And seeing as this map appears to tease what the world in Amazon’s small-screen adaptation of the franchise looks like, it’s definitely giving “LOTR” fans enough material to obsess over all weekend long.

Details about Amazon’s “LOTR” series — which first announced in November 2017 and is being developed by “Star Trek 4” duo JD Payne and Patrick McKay — are still scarce. But we do know the show is set in Middle-earth and will explore stories that precede the events of Tolkein’s “The Fellowship of the Ring.”

"Cosmos" Season 2 Premiere Officially Pushed By Fox Amid Neil deGrasse Tyson Investigation

  • Deadline
Fox has made it official — the second season of science docuseries Cosmos won’t premiere on March 3 as previously announced because of the ongoing investigation into sexual misconduct allegations against host Neil deGrasse Tyson.

The network just released listings for March 3-10. In them, Cosmos is replaced by Family Guy repeats in the Sunday 9:30 Pm slot on both March 3 and March 10.

As we reported last week, Fox and National Geographic were expected to postpone the Season 2 premiere, which had been set long before multiple new accusations against the famous astrophysicist/TV personality in late November prompted Fox, Nat Geo and the series producers to launch an investigation. The investigation is still ongoing, and the networks reportedly want it to be completed before making a decision.

“The credo at the heart of Cosmos is to follow the evidence wherever it leads,” the show’s producers said in a statement to Deadline in November.

Film Review: ‘Great Bear Rainforest’

Imax documentaries take us into the wilderness in ways we could only ever dream of experiencing in person, inviting us to marvel at the majesty of mother nature. Director Ian McAllister’s “Great Bear Rainforest” journeys deep into a remote, relatively untouched landscape where crystal clear lakes mirror the mountains and misty, mossy cedar forests tower above. With a cute albeit clumsy vanilla-colored bear as guide into this perfectly preserved place, and Canadian treasure Ryan Reynolds playing narrator, this riveting, revelatory short not only offers access to a delicate ecosystem hidden away along the Pacific coastline of Canada, but also educates on the conservation efforts of an indigenous community.

Mama bear Mox is part of a rare sub-species known as “spirit bears,” all-white bears “neither albino, nor polar” who dwell in the ancient rainforest of British Columbia. There are fewer than 200 alive today, so their protection is of utmost importance

‘Making a Murderer’ Attorney Kathleen Zellner Says State Is ‘Trying to Deceive’ About Pelvic Bone
Kathleen Zellner, the attorney for “Making a Murderer” subject Steven Avery, says she received a voicemail that shows the State of Wisconsin is “trying to deceive” her about the status of a pelvic bone found in a gravel pit.

Zellner sent a letter to the Wisconsin Court of Appeals on Wednesday explaining that the “State has continuously represented to undersigned counsel since 2016 that the State was in possession of the pelvic bone.” She then explained that she received new ledger sheets on Feb. 8 that showed the pelvic bone, listed as Item #9, as being “only human.” A 2011 police report indicated that all human bones were separated from the non-human bones found in the gravel pit, and all the human bones were then returned to the family of Teresa Halbach, who was murdered in 2005 and for which Avery is in prison.

Assistant Attorney General Thomas Fallon “has consistently represented to the undersigned

Caleb Deschanel Got an Oscar Nod for Shooting ‘Never Look Away’ Even Though He Can’t Speak German

Caleb Deschanel Got an Oscar Nod for Shooting ‘Never Look Away’ Even Though He Can’t Speak German
A version of this story about Caleb Deschanel appeared in the Down to the Wire issue of TheWrap’s Oscar magazine.

For the first 38 years of the Academy Awards, foreign-language films were ignored in the Best Cinematography category. But in recent years, foreign fare has averaged almost one nomination a year — and this year three of the five nominations are for films not in English, tying the record set in 2004 when “House of Flying Daggers,” “The Passion of the Christ” and “A Very Long Engagement” were all nominated.

Interestingly enough, Caleb Deschanel was involved both of those years: He shot Mel Gibson’s 2004 nominee “The Passion of the Christ,” which was in Aramaic and Latin, and also is in the running this year for Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck’s German-language drama “Never Look Away.”

“The difference is that nobody on the set of ‘The Passion’ understood Aramaic and Latin,” Deschanel said with a laugh.

Makers of Berlin Competition Title ‘Marighella’ Worry About Distribution at Home
Worried that growing political tension in Brazil may hamper the domestic release of “Marighella,” Wagner Moura’s directorial debut about a leftist revolutionary, the movie’s producers may seek to crowd-fund its distribution independently.

“We are going to fight for it,” producer Andrea Barata Ribeiro said ahead of the film’s world premiere at the Berlinale on Friday. She added that she wants to launch “Marighella” in Brazil right after Berlin. “If necessary, we will launch it independently through crowd-funding.”

Actor-director Moura, best-known Stateside for his starring role in “Narcos,” has little doubt that conservatives in Brazil don’t want the story of “Marighella” to be told. The film follows a ragtag group of resistance fighters, led by former congressman Carlos Marighella, who seek to ignite a popular revolution against Brazil’s military dictatorship, which seized power in 1964 and ruled until 1985.

With civic discussion in Brazil having taken a sharp

The track, sung in both English and Spanish, features bassist Diego Navaira on lead, guitarist Jerry Fuentes on the bridge and the entire group, rounded out by drummer Emilio Navaira and guitarist Derek James, on the chorus. It’s the benefit of having four lead singers, a lineup that helps distinguish the Last Bandoleros as not just a rock band, but a vocal group as well.
