The ensemble cast also includes John Malkovich, Scoot McNairy, Jessica Barden (The Lobster) and Lewis Pullman (Bad Times at the El Royale).

The story is being described as ‘a coming-of-age thriller at a university that encapsulates both the wild excitement of being young, and the dangers of living without fear of consequences.’

Ethan Berger and Alex Russek penned the script, with Berger set to direct. Lije Sarki is producing, alongside David Carrico and Adam Paulsen of Valparaiso Pictures. Bobby Hoppey is exec producing.

Zoe Lister-Jones to Write, Direct ‘The Craft’ Reboot for Blumhouse, Columbia
Zoe Lister-Jones is writing and directing “The Craftreboot for Blumhouse, Columbia Pictures and Red Wagon Entertainment, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Blumhouse’s Jason Blum is producing alongside Douglas Wick and Lucy Fisher for Red Wagon Entertainment. Red Wagon’s Andrew Fleming and Lucas Wiesendanger are executive producing. Blumhouse and Columbia are co-financing the film.

The original 1996 film paved the way for an onslaught of TV series and films that were witch-themed and centered on female empowerment. The film starred Robin Tunney, Neve Campbell, Christine Taylor, Fairuza Balk and Skeet Ulrich, and followed a new student at a Catholic prep high school who falls in love with a trio of outcast girls who practice witchcraft.

‘Black Widow,’ ‘Little Women,’ ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Among Most Tracked Female Directed Projects, IMDb Says (Exclusive)
Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women,” Cate Shortland’s “Black Widow,” Patty Jenkins’s “Wonder Woman 2,” and Elizabeth Banks’s “Charlie’s Angels” are among the ten most tracked projects on IMDbPro.

Ava DuVernay (“Selma”), Sofia Coppola (“Lost in Translation”), Chloé Zhao (“The Rider”), and Susanne Bier (“After the Wedding”) rank among the most widely followed female directors on the service.

The lists were revealed as part of the unveiling of a new feature on IMDbPro, an exhaustive database of film and television professionals and the projects they create. IMDbPro, will expand its popular IMDbPro Track feature to allow members to receive customizable notifications when the IMDb pages of people and titles they follow are updated. That includes everything from new cast or crew attachments project to changes in a project’s production status. IMDbPro Track launched in July 2018.

Guys and Dolls,” the venerable Broadway musical, is set to return to the big screen.

TriStar Pictures has purchased remake rights to the original Damon Runyon short stories about gamblers and gangsters that inspired the shows, as well as the rights to the Broadway musical with its book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows and its music by Frank Loesser. The studio has also acquired remake rights to the previous 1955 film adaptation from the Samuel Goldwyn company. That version of “Guys and Dolls” starred Marlon Brando, Jean Simmons, Frank Sinatra, and Vivian Blaine, and was directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz, who also wrote the screenplay.

Toni Collette, Jessie Buckley, and David Thewlis are joining the cast of Netflix’s film “I’m Thinking of Ending Things,” sources tell Variety.

Charlie Kaufman is writing and directing the movie, which stars Jesse Plemons. Based on Ian Reid’s 2016 novel, “I’m Thinking of Ending Things” follows Jake (Plemons), a man going on a road trip to meet his parents on their secluded farm with his girlfriend (Buckley), who is thinking of terminating their relationship. When Jake makes an unexpected detour leaving her stranded, a twisted mix of palpable tension, psychological frailty, and sheer terror ensues.

Kaufman is also producing with Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman, Bob Salerno, and Stefanie Azpiazu. Reid will serve as co-producer.

The new project reunites Kaufman with his frequent collaborator Bregman, who previously produced “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “Synecdoche, New York,” and “Human Nature.”

‘The Craft’ Remake Finds Director in Zoe-Lister Jones
Life in Pieces” star Zoe Lister-Jones will write and direct Sony Pictures’ remake of “The Craft” for Blumhouse and Red Wagon Entertainment.

Doug Wick, the producer of the original “The Craft,” will return in the same capacity along with partner Lucy Fisher through their Red Wagon banner. Jason Blum is also producing and his Blumhouse is co-financing. Fisher was vice chair of Columbia during the first movie.

Robin Tunney starred in the original, portraying a new arrival at a high school who’s sought out by three students, played by Fairuza Balk, Neve Campbell, and Rachel True. The trio had been dabbling in witchcraft, and Tunney’s arrival enables all four to become adept at magic, but the new coven disintegrates when Balk’s character misuses her new power.

Sony’s been attempting to remake “The Craft” since 2015 when Leigh Janiak was hired to direct. Andrew Fleming directed the original film.

Italian actress Michela De Rossi has been cast in a “pivotal role” in “The Sopranos” prequel “The Many Saints of Newark” as the film begins production next week, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

De Rossi joins Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, John Magaro and Michael Gandolfini in the ensemble drama set during in the Newark riots in the ’60s. She’ll play an “ambitious” Italian immigrant who comes to America to settle in Newark, New Jersey.

De Rossi is an up-and-coming Italian actress who made her cinematic debut in the 2018 film “Boys Cry,” a breakout at Berlinale that was directed by Fabio and Damiano D’Innocenzo. She’s never acted in the U.S., and her first trip to the States was to audition for the film.

The Trump administration has endorsed a federal court judgment that the Affordable Care Act is unconstitutional. The administration now seeks to dismantle not only protections for patients with pre-existing conditions, but to end Medicaid expansion in more than three dozen states and to upend the insurance marketplaces for individuals across the country.

On Monday, the Department of Justice submitted a brief notice to a federal appellate court announcing that it now believes Obamacare should be thrown out in its entirety, as called for by a December 2018 ruling in district court.
