Stan Lee, Legendary Comics Writer and Editor Who Co-Created the Marvel Universe, Dies at 95
Stan Lee, the legendary comic book writer and editor who helped redefine the medium when he co-created much of Marvel Comics’ vast library of characters and concepts, died Monday, according to THR. He was 95.

Working alongside fellow comics titans like Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby during the 1960s, Lee was instrumental in sparking what became known as “the Marvel revolution,” a shift in superhero comics that emphasized flawed protagonists expressing humanistic values. Concepts and plots remained as colorful and weird as ever. But Marvel characters, written with complex, realistic personalities and mundane private lives, often had to resolve family, dating and even financial challenges while protecting the public from an increasingly packed roster of supervillains.

This new approach to superhero comics debuted in “The Fantastic Four,” a team of superheroes presented as a dysfunctional but loving family unit that Lee co-created with Kirby in 1961. Lee credited his wife, Joan, for

What the Forky? New ‘Toy Story 4’ Character Explained

What the Forky? New ‘Toy Story 4’ Character Explained
Leave it to “Toy Story” to grapple with the big questions in life. Why are we here? Why are we alive? What is life about? And who — or what — is Forky?

That’s the question confusing many online after Disney and Pixar released the first teaser for “Toy Story 4.” The trailer features the toys prancing in a slow motion circle to the tune of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” only for a spork with googly eyes and red pipe cleaners (as voiced by “Veep’s” Tony Hale) to shriek in terror, “I don’t belong here.”

Because Forky may not be a “toy.” Director Josh Cooley explains in the announcement for the teaser that he is an actual spork-turned-craft-project. And though Bonnie, the new young girl and owner of all of Andy’s old toys, plays with Forky as though he were one, he feels he doesn’t belong.

‘Bachelor’ Mansion Remains “Unscathed” By California Wildfires – Update
Update Sunday, 5:27 p.m.: After the fate of the Agoura Hills mansion that plays host to the Bachelor and Bachelorette was in question, it is safe to say that the mansions have not burned down despite their proximity to the fire.

The mansion seems to be intact and unharmed by the fires according to a tweet from USA Today’s Chris Woodyard. The tweet includes a photo of him and the mansion which shows no signs of damage.

“The house from ABC’s The Bachelor survived the fire unscathed,” he wrote. However, he said: “House next door burned to the ground.”

The news comes a day after Mike Fleiss, the creator and executive producer of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette tweeted: “I still don’t know exactly what condition #TheBachelor Mansion is in. Review: Late Saxist David S. Ware Shines on Unfettered Live Set ‘The Balance’
Kamasi Washington was hardly the first saxophonist to revive the so-called spiritual-jazz aesthetic of John Coltrane and his key successors like Pharoah Sanders. As early as the late Seventies, the late David S. Ware was combining blissful melodicism with mighty fervor in a way that pointed directly back to those influences. From the early Nineties through 2007 Ware led a celebrated quartet that garnered him wide acclaim — Rolling’s Stone‘s David Fricke called him a “radiantly confident player” in a review of the group’s 1995 album Cryptology— and even a brief major-label deal.

Reminder: North Korea Is Still Very Much a Nuclear Threat
Earlier this year, a handful of congressmen formally nominated President Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize. “Although North Korea has evaded demands from the international community to cease its aggression for decades, President Trump’s peace through strength policies are working and bringing peace to the Korean Peninsula,” the letter concluded, anticipating the president’s June summit with Kim Jong-un. But the Nobel committee was unmoved by Trump glad-handing a murderous dictator, and ultimately awarded the prize to Nadia Murad, an activist for those who survived sexual abuse at the hands of Isis,

WWE Hall of Famer Edge on Why Hollywood Loves to Work With Wrestlers

Adam “Edge” Copeland won 31 championships during his time in WWE — that’s more than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, John Cena or Dave Bautista. But can the “Vikings” star find crossover success in Hollywood comparable to those heavyweights? He’s sure trying, and the easy-to-work-with rep his predecessors have laid is helping pave the path for Copeland’s own transition.

“Wrestling is a very demanding thing,” he told TheWrap. “But you’re also your own manager. You book your own rental cars, you book your own hotels. You carry your own bags. Your day begins as soon as you wake up and it ends when you get to bed. And it could be in a Motel 6 because there are no other hotels open and it’s 4 o’clock in the morning. That keeps you humble and it keeps you hungry.”

Directors notice and appreciate that self-sufficiency and modesty, Copeland said.

‘Five Night at Freddy’s’ Movie Script Scrapped, New Script in Works
The movie script for “Five Nights at Freddy’s” was wrapped up and greenlit by both Jason Blum and Chris Columbus, but game creator Scott Cawthon decided to “toss it” because it didn’t match his vision for the movie adaptation, Cawthon posted on the forum for the game Monday.

A film adaptation of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” has been in the works since 2015 when Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the rights to the games. But in 2017, the movie moved over to Blumhouse Productions with producer Jason Blum taking to Twitter to confirm the news. Blumhouse announced that Chris Columbus would be the director of the film, working with Cawthon and Blum. Earlier this year, Cawthon said that the movie would be based on the first game and that subsequent movies would follow the story of the second and third games.

On Monday, Cawthon once more took to the forums

Stan Lee: ‘The Man’ Behind the Comic-Book Superhero Myths

Stan Lee: ‘The Man’ Behind the Comic-Book Superhero Myths
The Man” was the perfect nickname for him.

Stan Lee was the kind of person for whom the phrase “towering figure” was invented. As the co-creator of Spider-Man, Iron Man, Black Panther, the Hulk, the X-Men, the Avengers, Daredevil, Thor, Doctor Strange, the Fantastic Four, Ant-Man, Black Widow and countless other beloved characters, his influence on comics and pop culture — and on the world — is almost impossible to overstate. In that sense, calling Stan “The Man” rightly proclaimed his preeminence.

It also reminds us that he was, in fact, just

Review: J. Mascis is His Usual Lovably Miserable Self on ‘Ecstatic Days’
For more than three decades, J Mascis has created moods even more than he’s written songs. No artist to emerge from the underground in the Eighties captured melancholy quite like he did with Dinosaur Jr. — he always sounded like someone who’d just given up on everything, trying to figure out what went wrong as he croaked out his lyrics and played transcendent solos. On Ecstatic Days, his latest solo LP, he presents the Mascis vision unfiltered. He plays almost all of the instruments himself, strumming an acoustic guitar,
