‘Grimm’ Spinoff With A Female Lead In Works At NBC
Grimm is eying a comeback. NBC is developing a spinoff from the supernatural series, which bowed out last year after six seasons. Like the original, the offshoot hails from Universal TV and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s studio-based Hazy Mills Prods.

Written by Melissa Glenn (Marvel’s Iron Fist), the untitled spinoff, I hear, will center on a female Grimm. Per NBC, building off the mythology of the original series, the new show will feature returning fan favorites while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries. I hear no actors are currently attached but the idea is for the offshoot to feature some original cast members, regular or recurring.

Glenn executive produces with Hazy Mills’ Hayes and Milliner. Grimm co-creators/showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will serve as consulting producers.

The original series followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovered he is a Grimm,

Rita Hayworth Left a Long Legacy: An Appreciation on Her 100th Birthday

Rita Hayworth Left a Long Legacy: An Appreciation on Her 100th Birthday
Long before Jennifer Lopez and Eva Longoria, there was Rita Hayworth. The dancer-actress, born Margarita Carmen Cansino, would have been 100 on Wednesday, and even fans of classic Hollywood may not realize how extraordinary her career was. She was the No. 1 box office star of Columbia Pictures in the 1940s, she was Fred Astaire’s favorite dancing partner, and U.S. G.I.s had pinups of her around the globe during WWII. These are especially impressive in an era when Latino-Hispanic children were still in segregated schools and only a decade after America’s “repatriation” program shipped 2 million Mexicans across the border, claiming they were “stealing” American jobs.

Work dried up for Hayworth in the 1960s, due to occasional slurred speech and memory problems. Hollywood assumed she was alcoholic, but in 1980 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, bringing worldwide awareness to the little-known disease. Her greatest legacy may be the annual Rita Hayworth Galas,

Evolution Can’t Keep Up With Mammal Extinction

Earlier this month, a daunting U.N. report laid out in no uncertain terms that humans need to drastically change the way we live, and fast, to avoid a major crisis — without a massive shift, more extreme weather, unlivable conditions, increased poverty and food scarcity are all in our not-too-distant future. The report also conceded that such change doesn’t seem likely. A week after the report, President Trump (who pulled the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement on climate change) reiterated that he doesn’t believe that climate change

‘Mid90s’ Review: Jonah Hill’s Skaterat Coming-of-Age Movie
Jonah Hill doesn’t appear in a single scene of Mid90s, but you can feel his presence in every scene of this comedy spiked with touching gravity. Making his directing debut with a script he wrote himself, Hill shapes this coming-of-age tale like a European art film (think Francois Truffaut’s 400 Blows), letting atmosphere, character and glimmers of feeling take precedence over narrative thrust. The technique may put off fans expecting a raucous take on Superbad or 21 Jump Street and its sequel, both of which Hill cowrote. But

Ashleigh Banfield, Carol Costello, Michaela Pereira to Depart Hln as Network Cuts Back on Live News

  • The Wrap
CNN’s sister news channel Hln is rejiggering its programming lineup, cutting back on live news shows that will see the departure of Ashleigh Banfield, Carol Costello and Michaela Pereira.

“The current cable news landscape is dominated by politics. Our live news shows have not benefitted from this trend given our story mix,” said Ken Jautz, the CNN executive VP who heads up Hln, in a staff memo that was obtained by TheWrap. “However, Hln’s longform programs have been performing very well.”

The shift will see Robin Meade’s “Morning Express,” expand to six hours, from 6 a.m. to noon, with the last two hours being a mix of live and taped. The early-afternoon news show, “On the Story” will expand to three hours from noon to 3 p.m., featuring a roundtable of anchors as hosts. The rest of the lineup will be made up of documentaries and other pre-taped programming.

TV Review: Peter Dinklage in HBO’s ‘My Dinner With Hervé’

TV Review: Peter Dinklage in HBO’s ‘My Dinner With Hervé’
Hervé Villechaize, most familiar for his turn on “Fantasy Island” before his premature death, is an unlikely biopic subject. As the assistant Tattoo on the TV drama, Villechaize was treated as if his short stature made him a supernatural freak. His cultural impact has been an accented catchphrase (“De plane!”) and his status as a widely known, and generally patronized, little person. It’s a story that seems too sad, and too sadly marginal, to entice viewers.

My Dinner With Hervé,” HBO’s film about a late-in-life Villechaize, isn’t quite a reclamation project. It doesn’t do enough to center his story,

Hulu Eyes Cheaper Live TV Bundles That Strip Out Entertainment Cable Networks

Hulu wants to cater to a new crowd of pay-tv “cord-shavers” with stripped-down, less-expensive live television bundles that include sports, news and on-demand content — dropping linear entertainment networks to save costs.

Hulu CEO Randy Freer sketched out the concept in an interview with The Information published Tuesday, saying that the skinnier bundles would be designed to appeal to a cohort of price-sensitive users and prove more profitable by cutting out carriage fees for multiple networks. Instead, Hulu subscribers would have access to on-demand programming licensed from cable networks.

The idea goes to the heart of shifting TV viewing behavior: How

Stagecoach 2019 Lineup: Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Jason Aldean Lead Country Festival
California’s annual Stagecoach Festival has announced its 2019 lineup, with headliners Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt and Jason Aldean. The 13th annual fest in Indio, California, will take place April 26th through 28th at the Empire Polo Fields.

Stagecoach is one of the few country festivals whose bill consistently mixes mainstream, high-profile country stars with left-of-center roots and Americana artists, and this year’s lineup is no different. The 2019 festival includes commercial hitmakers like Kane Brown, Cole Swindell, Old Dominion and Luke Combs, alongside a variety of less traditional country festival acts,
