George R.R. Martin Developing Animated ‘Ice Dragon’ Movie With Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. is developing George R.R. Martin’s fantasy novel “The Ice Dragon” as an animated movie with the “Game of Thrones” writer on board as a producer.

“The Ice Dragon,” first published in 1980, is the story of a young girl and the ice dragon she befriends in a mythical land of frigid snow after the death of her mother. The ice dragon was an untamed creature of legend and fear, and when it flew overhead, it left in its wake desolate cold and frozen land, but the girl was unafraid because she was a winter child, born during the worst freeze that anyone could remember. Her friendship leads to the ice dragon defending the girl’s world from fiery dragons on a summer day.

Martin’s manager Vince Gerardis is set to executive produce. Warner Bros. Animation Group chiefs Allison Abbate and Chris Leahy are overseeing the project for the studio.

Former ‘Bachelorette’ Star Says She Was Drugged and ‘Accosted’ During the Show
Meredith Phillips, a former star of ABC’s “The Bachelorette,” has come forward saying she was drugged and “accosted” during her time on the show.

Phillips, who served as the Bachelorette on the show’s second season in 2004, said in an interview on the Reality Steve podcast that a massage therapist for the show drugged and “accosted” her in the tub of the room where she was staying.

Phillips said the woman, hired by one of the show’s producers, gave her a pill that made her drowsy.

“The last thing I remember is she got naked and she was in the tub with me, rubbing my back, and rubbing areas that she probably shouldn’t have,” she said, adding that she woke up naked with little memory of what had transpired.

‘Transformers’ Sequel Cut From Paramount’s 2019 Release Slate
Paramount announced Wednesday that it has removed next year’s planned “Transformers” installment from its release slate.

The sequel to “Transformers: The Last Knight” had been scheduled for release on June 28, 2019. The sole “Transformers” film now left on Paramount’s slate is the spinoff “Bumblebee,” which will hit theaters this Christmas.

Last year, “The Last Knight” scored the lowest box office returns of any “Transformers” installment with $605 million worldwide against a $217 million production budget, including a franchise-low $130 million domestic cume. The birth and rise of Michael Bay’s series based on the classic Hasbro toy line was one of the signature achievements of Paramount’s late former CEO Brad Grey, who passed away last year.

‘Summer 1993’ Film Review: Sensitive Debut Follows Motherless Girl to New Family

  • The Wrap
Childhood is so often seen as a period of unbridled promise and accumulation — of things, of knowledge, of friends and family — that the death of a parent can seem like the most confounding and terrible of erasures for a still-forming mind to process. For six-year-old Frida (Laia Artigas), the autobiographical protagonist around which Catalan filmmaker Carla Simón has crafted her touching debut feature “Summer 1993,” the loss of her mother puts her in a dizzying confluence of attention, love, discipline, freedom and pain when she’s taken from her city home to live in the Catalan countryside with her aunt and uncle.

But rather than adopt an excuse to turn this hardship material into easy sentiment, Simón treats this very personal matter with a focused, unhurried wisdom for the ways even a left-turn girlhood can still be a celebration of being young, alive and open.

Anchored by a pair of extraordinary

How Dakota Fanning, Luke Evans, Alex Rich and Evan Peters Embraced the Limited Series (Video)
Expectations were high when Dakota Fanning started shooting “The Alienist.” After nearly 10 years of failing to adapt Caleb Carr’s crime novel as a feature film, TNT ultimately made a major investment to turn it into a limited series. She and her co-stars Luke Evans and Daniel Bruhl appeared at TNT’s upfronts presentation last year, only to be greeted with a trailer of the material they had been shooting just days earlier.

“Everybody’s taking this very seriously and expecting a lot of it,” Fanning told TheWrap’s Matt Donnelly as part of TheWrap’s Outstanding Limited Series Panel at the Landmark Theatres in Los Angeles on Tuesday. “But everyone individually was expecting a lot of themselves and pushing themselves to do their best.”

But shooting a limited series posed a new challenge for Fanning, one her fellow panelists could relate to.
