The actress who played golden ticket-winner Charlie Bucket’s mom in the beloved 1971 Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory movie has died.

Diana Sowle died early on Friday, her representative confirmed to the BBC. She was 88. A cause of death for the actress has not been revealed.

“She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, and will be deadly missed,” the rep said in a statement, adding that Sowle died “with family by her side.”

Sowle is best remembered for her role in the 1971 film, her first-ever screen credit, where she memorably sang “Cheer Up Charlie.”

Warner Bros. has moved Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman 1984 back seven months from Nov. 1, 2019, to June 5, 2020.

The sequel, which is set in 1984, replaces Mark Wahlberg’s Six Billion Dollar Man, which has been taken off the schedule.

Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros.’ president of domestic distribution, said, "We had tremendous success releasing the first 'Wonder Woman' film during the summer so when we saw an opportunity to take advantage of the changing competitive landscape, we did. This move lands the film exactly where it belongs."

On Monday, “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews took to Instagram Live to tell “Nine-Nine” fans to expect Season 6 of the Dan Goor-created series to hit NBC in January.

While we previously knew that fresh episodes of the critically-acclaimed comedy would be arriving on its new home network at midseason, this is the first concrete evidence we’ve had about exactly when the 99th precinct will be cracking down on crime on NBC, after being canceled by Fox in the spring.

Italian Hit ‘Perfect Strangers’ Set for Arabic Remake
Smash hit Italian concept movie “Perfect Strangers” is set to be adapted for the Arab world, following a flurry of remakes worldwide.

Dubai-based Middle East distributor Front Row Filmed Entertainment and sister company Kuwait National cinema have acquired Arabic remake rights from Italy’s Medusa Film to director Paolo Genovese’s 2016 ensemble dramedy involving smartphones and personal secrets.

Front Row will co-produce the Arabic version with prominent Egyptian shingle Film Clinic, whose latest titles include Cannes competition entry “Yomeddine,” and with Lebanese distributor Empire International.

The deal was negotiated by Front Row’s Gianluca Chakra with sales agent Faruk Alatan for Medusa. Besides Chakra, Film Clinic chief Mohamed Hefzy, Kuwait National’s Hisham Alghanim, and Empire’s Mario Haddad Jr. are also attached to produce and finance.

Mariah Carey is headed to “The Voice.”

The Grammy-winning recording artist will join the NBC reality competition series as a key adviser for the knockout rounds, beginning Oct. 29. Carey will work with and mentor the remaining 32 contestants with coaches Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

The Voice” continues with the battle rounds on Tuesday nights. The coaches enlist the help of top recording artists to offer their knowledge and skills as advisors. Kelly Clarkson teams up with Thomas Rhett; Jennifer Hudson with Halsey; Adam Levine with Cee Lo Green; and Blake Shelton with Keith Urban.

Lionsgate, Idc Renew Distribution Partnership for Latin America

Lionsgate and Idc have renewed their longstanding distribution partnership for Latin American releases of Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment films.

Since the partnership’s formation with predecessor company Summit Entertainment in 2005, Idc has generated over $1.3 billion at the Latin American box office, propelled by the Hunger Games, Twilight Saga, Now You See Me, and John Wick franchises along with “La La Land,” “Wonder,” and “The Impossible.” Idc has also strong performances from acquisitions such as “Sinister,” “Last Vegas,” “Winchester” and “Non Stop.”

Idc has distribution relationships with independents across 23 Latin American countries with the flexibility to release both day-and-date with the U.S. The companies said the Idc structure also allows it to create the marketing, release and promotional strategies in each territory.

“Pedro Rodriguez and his Idc team have done a great job of mining the full potential of the Latin American box office,” said Lionsgate chief executive officer Jon Feltheimer.

The Museum of Modern Art in New York unveiled its annual film series “The Contenders” on Tuesday, with Steve McQueen’s heist thriller “Widows” kicking off the opening night of screenings.

Running from Nov. 8 to Jan. 8 at The Roy and Niuta Titus Theaters at MoMA, the end-of-year series is entering into its 11th year and will feature a mix of blockbusters, documentaries, independent films, awards darlings and more, many accompanied by special presentations and post-screening conversations with the filmmakers.

McQueen and producer Iain Canning will be present on the series’ opening night for a post-screening discussion of the film starring Viola Davis, Michelle Rodriguez and Elizabeth Debicki.

Johnny Depp has come on board to star as war photographer W. Eugene Smith in the independent drama “Minamata.”

The film will center on Smith’s work as a photographer for Life magazine in exposing the poisoning of the people of Minamata, Japan. Andrew Levitas will direct the film, which is based on the book by Aileen Mioko Smith and W. Eugene Smith and adapted by David K. Kessler.

The story will start with Smith as a recluse, with the glory days of World War II far behind him. But an old friend and a commission from Life Magazine editor Ralph Graves convince him to journey back to Japan to expose a big story: the devastating annihilation of a coastal community through mercury poisoning. “Minamata” will start principal production in Japan followed by Serbia in January.
