Idris Elba Boarding Universal-Working Title’s ‘Cats’ As Macavity
Idris Elba is in final talks to join Tom Hooper’s feature adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical Cats. We hear Elba is playing famed feline Macavity.

The Golden Globe and two-time SAG Award winner joins Taylor Swift, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, James Corden, Laurie Davidson, and Mette Towley. The pic is currently in pre-production.

Macavity is the only real villain in the musical who kidnaps Old Deuteronomy, the Jellicle leader, and attempts to abduct Demeter, one of two cats who sings about him. The character was originally portrayed by Richard Pettyfer in the original West End production, and by Kenneth Ard in the Broadway production. Macavity also has a hypnotic power. In act two, there are two songs about him: “Macavity: The Mystery Cat” sung by Demeter, Bombalurina, and female feline back-up and “Macavity Fight” performed by Macavity, Demeter, Munkustrap, and Alonzo.

Grimm is eying a comeback. NBC is developing a spinoff from the supernatural series, which bowed out last year after six seasons. Like the original, the offshoot hails from Universal TV and Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s studio-based Hazy Mills Prods.

Written by Melissa Glenn (Marvel’s Iron Fist), the untitled spinoff, I hear, will center on a female Grimm. Per NBC, building off the mythology of the original series, the new show will feature returning fan favorites while also introducing new characters, new dangers and epic new mysteries. I hear no actors are currently attached but the idea is for the offshoot to feature some original cast members, regular or recurring.

Glenn executive produces with Hazy Mills’ Hayes and Milliner. Grimm co-creators/showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf will serve as consulting producers.

The original series followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovered he is a Grimm,

Ratings: ‘The Conners’ Premiere Draws 10.5 Million Viewers

  • The Wrap
ABC’s “The Conners” debuted to a 2.3 rating among adults 18-49 and 10.5 million total viewers on Tuesday. While it’s not a perfect comparison — and those are solid numbers — they don’t look great next to the gaudy returns “Roseanne” premiered to in the spring.

In late March, “Roseanne” returned to a 4.9 demo rating and 17.7 million viewers. A second episode that same night rose to a 5.3 and 18.6 million viewers.

That means “Roseanne” did 113 percent better in the demo than “The Conners,” and had 69 percent more overall audience members.

Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires: The Rolling Stone Country Interview

Amanda Shires slides her chair back, its legs audibly groaning against the wooden floor, and leaps up from the table. She circles the rustic space, swinging one arm in an exaggerated fashion to mimic an elephant, while thrusting her hips as she hops forward.

“Oh, the trunk. And some Martha Graham-style interpretations,” says Jason Isbell, amused. “For ‘If We Were Vampires’, you’ll do the big teeth, like Rawr!'”

“I’ll wear a cloak,” insists Shires, drawing her arm across her face with an air of mystery, leaving

While the original take of “New York” boasted strings, multi-tracked vocals and a gentle beat, pianist Thomas Bartlett solely accompanied her for the elegant version she brought to Kimmel. Clark previously described Masseducation as “two dear friends playing songs together with the kind of secret understanding one can only get through

They also claimed the tax cut would pay for itself. That didn’t happen either, as was made clear this week when it was revealed that the federal budget deficit has ballooned $779 billion, a 17 percent increase from 2017. The hike
