Nicknamed “The Italian Superman,” Sammartino was the second-ever WWE Champion, defeating Buddy Rogers at Madison Square Garden for the belt. Of course in those days, the pro-wrestling promotion was not called “WWE.”

Sammartino went on to hold the title for nearly eight years — by far the longest reign ever. The way wrestling storylines are written these days, that mark will never be eclipsed.

Michael Cohen Withdraws Libel Suits Against BuzzFeed, Fusion Gps

Michael Cohen has withdrawn his libel suit against BuzzFeed and Fusion Gps, a lawyer for the Trump attorney revealed on Thursday.

“The decision to voluntarily discontinue these cases was a difficult one,” Cohen attorney David Schwartz told Politico Thursday, which reported the news. “We believe the defendants defamed my client, and vindicating Mr. Cohen’s rights was — and still remains — important. But given the events that have unfolded, and the time, attention, and resources needed to prosecute these matters, we have dismissed the matters, despite their merits.”

Schwartz did not immediately respond to request for comment from TheWrap.

The longtime Trump fixer had been suing both companies for their role in the now legendary dossier compiled by ex-British intelligence agent Christopher Steele. The dossier — which was paid for by Fusion and published by BuzzFeed — is the origin of the so-called “pee tape” and rumors that the president had a urine-filled encounter with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel room in 2013.

In a statement to TheWrap, BuzzFeed defended its decision to publish the dossier.

“The lawsuits against BuzzFeed over the Steele dossier have never been about the merits of our decision to publish it. If there’s one thing Democrats and Republicans agree on today, it’s that the dossier was an important part of the government’s investigation into potential collusion between the Trump Campaign and Russia,” said BuzzFlack Matt Mittenthal.

“Its interest to the public is, and always has been, obvious. Today’s news suggests that Donald Trump’s personal lawyer no longer thinks an attack on the free press is worth his time.”

Cohen’s decision comes as his own legal troubles mount. Last week, his offices and personal apartment were raided by the FBI and this week it was revealed that — in addition to Trump — Cohen had some legal relationship with Fox News host Sean Hannity.

Amazon Orders ‘Utopia’ Series From ‘Gone Girl’ Writer Gillian Flynn

Amazon has ordered “Utopia” straight-to-series. The nine-episode series hails from “Gone Girl” writer Gillian Flynn, and it marks the first project under her new overall deal at the streaming studio.

Flynn’s “Utopia” has been the works for quite a while and floated around various platforms. The adaptation of Dennis Kelly’s British series of the same name (not to be confused with the Fox reality show disaster) was originally set for HBO, but that plan died in 2015. This one is a co-production between Endemol Shine North America and Kudos — an Endemol Shine Group UK production studio — and Amazon Studios.

Utopia” follows a group of young adults who meet online and are mercilessly hunted by a shadowy deep state organization after they come in to possession of a near mythical cult underground graphic novel, per Amazon. With it, they discover the conspiracy theories in the comic’s pages may actually be real and are forced in to the dangerous, unique and ironic position of saving the world.

“We are huge fans of Gillian Flynn’s electrifying work,” said Nick Hall, head of Alternative Series for Amazon Studios. “She crafts stories that hold her audience in a constant state of suspense and subverts the expectations behind her characters. She will deliver Prime Video members a series they won’t forget, and ‘Utopia’s’ relevance is sure to connect with viewers around the globe.”

“‘Utopia’ is pure creative catnip to me,” added Flynn. “Dennis Kelly’s show blew my mind, and he has been so incredibly generous in letting me crack open his world and play around in it and make it my own weird, wild place. Utopia is all about exploring resonant issues within dark, twisted storytelling — it’s a series that’s urgent and current and a little holy-crap!, but a hell of a lot of a fun.”

Flynn is considered the domestic version’s creator, executive producer and showrunner. Other executive producers include Kelly, Jessica Rhoades, Sharon Hall, Karen Wilson and Diederick Santer. Sharon Levy, president, Unscripted & Scripted Television, Endemol Shine North America, will oversee production for Endemol Shine.

Tina Fey Tears Up Remembering Gilda Radner at Tribeca Opening Night
The 17th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival kicked off with a tribute to 1970s New York with “Love, Gilda,” a documentary about the trailblazing “Saturday Night Live” star Gilda Radner.

Tina Fey, who helped introduce the film at the Beacon Theatre on Wednesday night, teared up during her speech. “I can personally attest, and I feel comfortable speaking for Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, and Rachel Dratch, when I say that seeing Gilda as a kid, she was lovely and she was so authentically herself and so regular in so many ways,” Fey said, referencing her other “SNL” peers. “She was not a piece of casting. She was who she was on the TV. We all saw that and said, ‘I want to do that.'”

Fey added: “It’s an early example for me of how important representation is. Gilda was our Michelle Obama.”

In the film, director Lisa
