"Arrested Development": Netflix Cancels U.K. Press Trip Following Damaging New York Times Interview

Seven members of the fictional Bluth family spoke to the Times’ Sopan Deb ahead of next week’s season five debut. During the conversation, Jessica Walter cried while recounting verbal abuse she allegedly endured from her onscreen ex-husband, Jeffrey Tambor. In late 2017, two accusations of sexual harassment from the set of Amazon’s “Transparent

Harvey Weinstein Arrested on Sex Crime Charges in New York City
Harvey Weinstein was arrested on Friday in New York City on charges of rape, criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct stemming from a months-long investigation by the NYPD into accusations by multiple women.

Though the Hollywood mogul has been accused of misconduct by more than 80 women, the criminal charges by New York prosecutors stem from the accusations of two women. The first-degree criminal sex act charge comes from a case involving aspiring actress Lucia Evans, according to law enforcement officials. We do not yet know who filed the complaint that led to the rape charge.

Weinstein will be released on $1 million bail. He will have to wear a monitoring device around his ankle, and is expected to surrender his passport and have restrictions placed on his travel.

Arrested Development: Jason Bateman Apologizes For Excusing Jeffrey Tambor's Abusive Behavior
In a long-ranging interview with The New York Times, most of the male Arrested Development cast members repeatedly shoved their feet in their mouths when the conversation turned to the sexual assault allegations against Jeffrey Tambor, who was also present at the interview. Jason Bateman, David Cross, and Tony Hale attempted to excuse his abusive onset behavior over and over again throughout the interview, even when Jessica Walter - who plays the delightfully sardonic Bluth matriarch Lucille - broke down in tears recounting a past incident with Tambor.

When Walter began speaking about it, Bateman immediately tried to brush it off, saying that the cast "is a family and families, you know, have love, laughter, arguments - again, not to belittle it, but a lot of stuff happens in 15 years."

Walter, still crying, responded: "Let me just say one thing that I just realized in this conversation. I have to

‘Solo’ Heads to Opening Below Forecasts Over Memorial Day Weekend

Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Solo: A Star Wars Story” is flying well below forecasts, heading for a Memorial Day weekend launch of around $110 million domestically, early estimates showed Friday.

The four-day figure is significantly under the studio’s recent estimates in the $130 million to $150 million range at 4,380 North American locations. First-day grosses are coming in at about $32 million — including $14.1 million from previews, which set a Memorial Day weekend record.

Should the holiday estimate hold for “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” it will raise questions about franchise fatigue and Disney’s strategy of opening the tentpole a mere five months after “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” debuted on Dec. 16. “The Last Jedi” debuted impressively with $220 million in North America, and went on to earn $620 million domestically and $1.3 billion worldwide.

“Solo” is the 10th Star Wars movie and fourth from Disney in less than four years. Critics have been mostly positive with

Paul Bloch, Publicist to the Stars and Rogers & Cowan Chairman, Dies at 78

Paul Bloch, the well-known publicist who served as chairman of publicity powerhouse Rogers and Cowan and worked with clients including John Travolta, Michael Keaton and Tom Cruise, died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles after a long illness. He was 78.

Bloch was adept at handling P.R. crises, such as Eddie Murphy being stopped for picking up a prostitute, throughout his five-decade career in Hollywood.

The veteran publicist took over managing Cruise’s P.R. after the disastrous couch-jumping episode of 2005. Bloch worked with Cruise for the next five years.

“Paul was not one of the best. He was the best. To say he will be missed is like saying Everest is a mountain,” said longtime publicist Stan Rosenfield.

Among the other stars for whom he handled damage control were Nick Nolte, who was arrested for driving under the influence, and Lisa Marie Presley, whose rumored divorce from Michael Jackson

Sesame Workshop Sues Over ‘Happytime Murders’ Trailer Featuring ‘Ejaculating Puppets’
The people behind beloved children’s program “Sesame Street” have gone into Oscar the Grouch mode over the promotion for the upcoming Melissa McCarthy film “The Happytime Murders,” filing a lawsuit claiming that the film’s trailer “tarnishes” the Sesame brand.

And it’s quite the tarnishing indeed, according to the suit.

In the suit, filed in federal court in New York on Thursday, Sesame Workshop says that the promotion of the film makes unauthorized use of the Sesame Street mark with the tagline, “No Sesame. All Street” and a trailer featuring very un-“Sesame Street” themes.

The ‘Black Lightning’ Discussion That Was Supposed to Be About ‘This Is America’ (Podcast)

The ‘Black Lightning’ Discussion That Was Supposed to Be About ‘This Is America’ (Podcast)
Sometimes you sit down to talk about one thing and end up going in a totally different direction than you planned. That’s what happens in the latest “Low Key” podcast, in which we set out to talk about Donald Glover’s provocative “This Is America” and ended up praising CW’s Blaxploitation-lite superhero series, “Black Lightning.”

You can listen on Apple or right here:

Both “This Is America’ and “Black Lightning” use familiar, friendly mediums — music, dance, superheroes — to delve into serious issues that are beyond uncomfortable to talk about, like gun violence and racial profiling. In this episode of “Low Key,” Aaron Lanton, Keith Dennie and me talk about how we responded to the deliberately jarring, confusing images in “This Is America,” and that led to an eye-opening talk about why white and black Americans can have very different expectations of law-enforcement interactions.
