The legacy lived on through Bob Odenkirk’s arc in Better Call Saul, a series that delved into the expansive history behind the first lines uttered by Saul Goodman in the original series.

The two shows, demarcated only by a difference in timelines, ran complimentary to each other – each with its own set of promises to keep and ambitions to fulfill. For showrunner Vince Gilligan, however, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul were never separate entities but two halves of the same saga, and it took Bob Odenkirk four years to realize Gilligan’s true intention.
