2020 Annie Awards nominations: ‘Frozen II’ and ‘Missing Link’ lead but watch out for ‘Toy Story 4’
Frozen II” and “Missing Link” lead the roster of contenders at the 47th annual Annie Awards with eight nominations each followed by “Klaus” with a lucky seven. Our predicted Oscar winner for Best Animated Feature, “Toy Story 4,” reaped a respectable six bids as did another sequel, “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.”

All five of these films number nominations for Best Studio Animated Feature among their haul from these precursor prizes, which are presented by the Hollywood chapter of the International Animated Film Association. The Annie Awards will be presented on Jan. 27. That is five days before the start of final voting for the Academy Awards.

Seven of the last 10 Annie Awards champs have lined up with the Oscars: “Up” (2010), “Rango” (2012), “Frozen” (2014), “Inside Out” (2016), “Zootopia” (2017), “Coco” (2018) and “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” (2019).
