Freddie Highmore-Written Dark Comedy Series ‘Homesick’ in Development at TBS
A Freddie Highmore-written half hour dark comedy series called “Homesick” has been sold to TBS and is currently in the early stages of development, TheWrap has learned.

The project comes from Sony Pictures TV and Highmore’s production banner Alfresco Pictures.

Highmore will executive produce and co-write with James Mitchell, on whose personal experiences the series is based. Mitchell will also serve as a co-executive producer.

According to TBS, “‘Homesick’ explores the themes of mental health, body image, toxic masculinity, and what it means to defy “normal” expectations of gender. It chronicles the dysfunctional relationship between a self-destructive twenty-something, secretly suffering from an eating disorder, and his mother, a raging narcissist and a total enabler who also happens to be his best friend in the world (for better or worse).”

This is the second project the “Good Doctor” star has sold under his two-year overall production deal with Sony Pictures Television.
