No joke! ‘Mrs. Maisel’ is an even bigger marvel with a Emmy nomination haul of 20, topping all comedy series

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” outdid itself in its sophomore season, collecting a total of 20 Primetime Emmy nominations – six more than its first go-round on Amazon Prime last year.

Its not quite a record — NBC’s “30 Rock” collected 22 nominations in 2009 in its third year on the air. But with season 3 already filming, Miriam “Midge” Maisel and the gang just might just top it next time. Besides, the streaming sensation created by spouses Amy Sherman-Palladino and Dan Palladino already hit the record books after winning a total of eight trophies last year — the most ever for comedy series.

The show about a late-‘50s Upper West Side housewife and mother who decides to secretly pursue a career as a stand-up nightclub comic branched out in season 2, filming its first two episodes in Paris and replicating the Catskills resorts of yore.
