The 2019 Emmy Award nominations have a lot of heavy-hitters on the list, including a record 32 nominations for HBO
's final season of Game of Thrones
. But the fantasy epic isn't the only series making history with its nominations: Pose, FX
's groundbreaking series about the New York City ballroom community, scored six nominations including outstanding drama series (which will see it facing off against Got). The nomination means that Janet Mock
, who serves as the series' writer, director, and producer, is the first black transgender producer to ever be nominated in the outstanding drama series race.
Mock celebrated the series' nominations with a post on her Instagram
page, writing, "I hope the spotlight of this nomination burns bright on our industry's urgent need for more inclusive storytelling, where those who lived it are empowered to tell their own stories."
