Captain Marvel’s Brie Larson isn’t interested in the “first female Marvel movie” tag

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re now only a few months away from the release of Marvel Studios’ first female-led superhero blockbuster Captain Marvel. And following the release of yesterday’s new trailer, Brie Larson has been chatting to Collider about the movie, during which she was asked how she felt about being the first actress to headline a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“I don’t know,” said Larson. “I don’t know how it’s any different. To be honest, I don’t want it to feel different. Kind of over the first female blah, blah, blah. And like, ‘Wow, maybe women can actually do the same things that dudes can do. Like, what a crazy concept!’ You know what I mean? I feel like the more we talk about it, the more we perpetuate the myth that it’s an impossible task.
