Amazon is amping up their original slate of content even more, picking up 10 episodes of “Good Girls Revolt,” Variety has learned exclusively.
Per Amazon’s usual pilot-selecting process in which viewers choose what projects they want to see go to series, the series order comes after the pilot launched Nov. 5 on the streaming service to good reception among fans. As for critical reception, “Good Girls Revolt” especially received positive reviews from industry experts.
Variety‘s Brian Lowry said, “Any show that begins with the Rolling Stones’ Altamont concert and includes “Light My Fire” can’t be all bad. Plus, it’s an interesting look at journalism back when it operated under a totally print-oriented metabolism.”
Set in 1969, “Good Girls Revolt,” centers around group of young female researchers at “News of the Week” who simply ask to be treated fairly, chronicling sexual-discrimination cases of the era.
