Aaron Kaplan Developing 1970’s Police Drama for CBS (Exclusive)
CBS is developing a police drama hailing from mega-producer Aaron Kaplan, Alexandra Lydon and Niels Mueller who will pen the script, Variety has learned exclusively.

Kaplan, Lydon and Mueller will all exec produce the potential series from CBS Television Studios.

The untitled show revolves around a unique, highly effective task force comprised entirely of African-American police officers, which was assembled in the early 1970s by the Boston Police Commissioner to more effectively prevent and solve crimes in previously neglected areas of the city.

Before selling this project to CBS this development cycle, Kaplan and Lydon had worked together on another police drama, “Broad Squad,” which ABC ordered to pilot last cycle, in contention for the 2015-16 television season. Though both are inspired by true stories and strike similarities, Mueller’s untitled CBS show is an entirely new project with different auspices attached.
