NBC topped Fox in total viewers on Wednesday, an uncommon claim in the days of “Empire.” Fox still finished first in the key advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, and “Empire” was the top show across primetime by both main metrics. For NBC, “Law & Order: Svu” rose 33 percent in the main demo versus last week. That boost can be attributed at least partially to its new lead-in, “The Voice” results show, which draws better numbers than “The Mysteries of Laura.” Even “Chicago P.D.” at 10 p.m. Et earned a double-digit boost. “Svu” has also been having a hot season, and that should not be.
