Controversial director Catherine Breillat
and actor turned auteur Francisco Barilli are both to receive Lifetime Achievement awards at this year's Cine Excess cult film conference, European Erotic Cinema: Identity, Desire and Disgust. Held at the University of Birmingham in partnership with the B-Film Birmingham Centre For Film Studies, it will also include a public industry panel, Echoes of Excess: Cult Film Creation, Financing and the New Digital
Economy, looking at the current state of low budget film making.
In keeping with the theme of erotic excess, the films being screened this year are Pensione Paura, Rouge Sange, For Elisa, The Storm Within, Tulpa and Siren. The conference itself will include over 30 papers related to the theme.
Cine Excess will run from 15 to 17 November....
