The European Commission has given its blessing to the country’s extension of its film support system until the end of 2019, and approved the Hungarian Film Fund’s request to up the total amount available for support to 18.5 billion Huf ($80 million), almost double the present amount.
The tax rebate, which is open to both international and Hungarian productions, is set at 20% of production costs spent in Hungary. Coin is accessed through the Hungarian Film Fund.
But the tax rebate isn’t the only reason why Hollywood crews are drawn to the country. It also has a wide variety of locations, state-of-the-art sound stages and high-caliber crews.
