Roman Polanski To Bring Erotic Play To Film
Roman Polanski, who directed the film version of the stage hit "God of Carnage" last year, will now take on the erotic black comedy "Venus in Fur," the Los Angeles Times reports.

"Venus in Fur" tells the story of a seemingly naïve and inadequate actress auditioning for the writer-director of a play. She is eventually able to use her wiles to shift the balance of power and establish dominance over the director. The Broadway show was written by David Ives and starred Nina Arianda and Hugh Dancy.

Polanski's silver-screen version will be a French-language project in which his wife, Emmanuelle Seigner, will star opposite French actor Louis Garrel.

Polanski, who fled from the United States in 1978 after pleading guilty to having sex with a minor, has not seen the Broadway version of "Venus in Fur," but he has read it.
