Comic Book Bites: Superman to have 'neo-medieval' Krypton backstory in Man of Steel; Marvel chief confirms Hulk, Punisher as TV priorities

Conducting himself with the Nolanesque secrecy normally associated with The Dark Knight Rises, filmmaker Zack Snyder so far remains tight-lipped when it comes to next year's Superman reboot, Man of Steel.

But a few clues have come from the film's costume designer, implying that Man of Steel will go far beyond showing superpowered action thrills and exploring Clark's earthly conflicts and challenges.

It seems the hero will be portrayed as part of a far richer lore.

Michael Wilkinson was among a gathering of industry professionals at the University of Southern California's school of Cinematic Arts, where he offered up some thoughts on exactly what an S on your chest could mean.

A summit on world-building and virtual production, the 5D|Flux conference featured Wilkinson among its speakers. He also worked with Snyder on 300 and Sucker Punch, as well as on the costuming for films including Tron: Legacy, Watchmen and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn.
