Iron Man 2 blacked out everything else in its path, earning $133.6 million for the three-day frame. The Marvel Entertainment juggernaut didn't bypass The Dark Knight's weekend record of $158 million but got close to surpassing Pirates of the Caribbean 3's opening of $135.6 million. In actuality, it now stands as the fifth highest opening weekend ever. It should be noted that the 2-D event movie earned 8% of its gross from the $10.2 million earned from IMAX theaters. And though it's a sequel, which often times burns through theaters quicker, this Robert Downey Jr.-starrer scored an A with audiences according to Cinemascore.
