....and we all know what that means. Yep, it’s time for BleedFest, the monthly film festival showcasing independent female filmmakers and their work. Established by badass maverick filmmakers Elisabeth and Brenda Fies, BleedFest opened in L.A. July of 2010 and a few months later became a monthly staple on the film festival circuit. According to the festival’s website, “BleedFest fetes the women who love writing, producing, directing, and watching badass genre movies.” Those genres include horror, fantasy, sci-fi, erotica, action, western and exploitation (but Not of women).
The goal of BleedFest is to raise awareness of the talented female genre filmmakers who are being ignored by the Boy’s Club of Hollywood…..and there are many. The award given out at the festival is called the Inanna, named for the ancient Sumerian goddess of love, war, lust and fertility. The Innanna Certificate Award is given...
