Julie Andrews's Granddaughter Defends Nude Pics
Dame Julie Andrews's granddaughter Kayti Edwards has defended her decision to pose nude as Mary Poppins for Hustler - she did it because she needed the money. And Kayti, who is the granddaughter of Andrews's director husband Blake Edwards and was brought up by Edwards and Andrews, says she wouldn't have had to do the shoot if her grandparents had helped her out of her debts. Kayti, who received $10,000 for her sexy shoot as her grandmother's most famous character, says, "I'm a single mother. I'm studying to be a trauma nurse and I needed the money to finish university. If Julie and my grandfather had wanted to pay off my student loan, I wouldn't have done it. If Julie had forbidden me to do the pictures, I'd have replied, 'Give me $10,000 and I won't do them.'" Kayti, who got into trouble as a teenager, running away from her grandparents' home and breaking into their house to steal their cars, took up with a drug dealer at 19 and had his daughter Shaely. She accuses Andrews, said to be appalled at the photoshoot, of hypocrisy since she went topless in the movie S.O.B., but adds that Julie has always been a generous and loving grandmother who brought her up better than her own mother. Kayti adds, "I think the photoshoot will affect her a little bit, but she won't stop talking to me. She won't stop loving me either. I am sure that Julie will always love me. If she can't, then that's pretty shallow."
