Denis Villenueve’s ‘Dune,’ Starring Timothée Chalamet, Has Officially Begun Filming As Full Cast Is Now Confirmed

Denis Villenueve’s ‘Dune,’ Starring Timothée Chalamet, Has Officially Begun Filming As Full Cast Is Now Confirmed
After all the talk and casting rumors, it’s official – production on “Dune” has officially begun!

Normally, hearing that another film was being made based on the Frank Herbert classic sci-fi novel would be cause for alarm. David Lynch gave the challenge a valiant effort, which is very Lynch-ian take on “Dune” back in 1984. Before that, filmmaker Alejandro Jodorowsky tried his damndest and got close to adapting the novel, and instead became the basis for a great documentary titled “Jodorowsky’s Dune.” However, this time, it just feels like all the stars are aligning and the best chance “Dune” fans will ever have at a faithful, and incredible, film based on the novel series is coming thanks to filmmaker Denis Villeneuve and his truly incredible cast.

Jia Zhangke On Capturing China’s Evolution and His Advice to Chinese Filmmakers Today

Jia Zhangke On Capturing China’s Evolution and His Advice to Chinese Filmmakers Today
China is a vast, complicated nation that has undergone dramatic changes in recent decades, and filmmaker Jia Zhangke has captured that process in intimate terms. One of the country’s most revered directors, Jia has probed the nuances of Chinese identity with sophisticated character studies for more than 20 years. His more recent projects, including the Cannes-winning anthology work “A Touch of Sin” and “Mountains May Depart,” have taken on a more dramatic scale. That includes his latest effort, “Ash is Purest White,” in which the director’s wife Zhao Tao plays a woman imprisoned after she protects her mobster husband (Lia Fan). Released several years later, she tracks the man down, discovering a vastly different China in the process.

Like much of Jia’s work, the slow-burn drama is a haunting and perceptive look at the country’s ongoing evolution. While in New York to promote the movie, which is currently in limited release,

Margot Robbie & Leonardo DiCaprio Debut Posters For Tarantino’s ‘Once Upon A Time’ As Film Appears To Be Headed To Cannes

At this point, it doesn’t appear that the first trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” is going to be released until tomorrow. That poster was not the most well-received, and quickly became a meme for its clear Photoshopping and odd posing.

It made for a thrilling season full of excitement, spectacle, and moving reunions ... but it lacked a little on logic. …

Hollywood’s Musical Chairs: Top Execs Are Changing Jobs and Facing High Expectations

When NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said goodbye to his job in September after eight years, he became a free agent just when the largest players in media were taking a hard look at their management ranks.

At the time, a top TV producer dubbed Greenblatt a “lethal weapon” that could be drawn by any number of media and tech giants looking to shake up their leadership status quo.

For weeks, there were rumblings about the former head of NBC and Showtime moving into a plum post at Apple, or taking the helm of CBS Corp., or replacing Richard Plepler at the top of HBO. On March 4, Greenblatt landed as chairman of WarnerMedia Entertainment and Direct to Consumer, overseeing HBO, TNT, TBS, TruTV and WarnerMedia’s nascent streaming services. WarnerMedia’s parent company, At&T, accelerated the pace of a restructuring that had already been contemplated in order to craft a

‘Game of Thrones’ Writers Respond to Season 7 Backlash Over Fast Pacing and Time Jumps

‘Game of Thrones’ Writers Respond to Season 7 Backlash Over Fast Pacing and Time Jumps
While “Game of Thrones” Season 7 featured some of the most iconic moments in the show’s history, including the destruction of The Wall and the turning of Daenerys’ dragon Viserion into a white walker, one criticism the show couldn’t escape was the season’s incredibly fast pacing that appeared to break the logic of time and space. Many fans noticed characters were traveling between locations at speeds not possible given the distance, which made it confusing as to whether or not all the different storylines were taking place at the time time or at various points in time (read Mashable’s essay on how the pacing messed with viewers’ heads).

Ahead of the final season debuting on HBO next month, some “Thrones” writers are defending the choice to speed up the storytelling. As writer-producer Bryan Cogman told Entertainment Weekly, “We made a choice to ‘just get on with it’ last season.

Kit Harrington Says HBO Went “Balls Out” For ‘Thrones’ Season 8 & He’s “Satisfied” With Jon Snow’s Fate

HBO’s massively epic series “Game of Thrones” has a large ensemble cast spanning over a dozen actors. However, if anyone was asked who the “star” of the show is, they’d probably all point to Kit Harrington, who plays Jon Snow. Through the series’ first seven seasons, Harrington’s Snow has risen from a side character, and moral center of a world filled with villains, to the hero that is expected to save the entire world.

Here’s What’s Coming to Netflix in April 2019

Netflix has announced the new films and TV shows that will be available on the streaming service in April 2019, and it’s a pretty eclectic bunch. For those looking to do a Quentin Tarantino deep-dive in anticipation of his new movie this summer, the “extended version” of The Hateful Eight will arrive—which I assume is the "roadshow" version of the film, that comes complete with an intermission. There are also even a couple of films made before 1984 on the list, including stone-cold classics All the President’s Men, Bonnie and Clyde, and Deliverance. If it’…
