Marvel’s Cancelled 1994 Fantastic Four Movie Is Now On YouTube To Watch
In 1994, Roger Corman finished production on the first live-action film adaptation of the classic Stan Lee comic The Fantastic Four. The movie then promptly went straight into hiding. Despite trailers promising it was coming, it was never to see a full release. The reason for this mysterious disappearance is simple: it’s absolutely terrible. But now you can easily see just how terrible it is as the full thing has been uploaded to YouTube for your viewing displeasure.

As you’ll discover, the film easily lives up to its bad reputation, with costumes that look like they’ve been scraped out of a dollar store, laughable special effects and a general feeling of being rushed towards completion as quickly as possible. And that’s precisely what happened.

In 1983, the production company Neue Constantin purchased the Fantastic Four movie rights from Marvel for a song, but with a contract stipulating that

Stan Lee, Legendary Comics Writer and Editor Who Co-Created the Marvel Universe, Dies at 95
Stan Lee, the legendary comic book writer and editor who helped redefine the medium when he co-created much of Marvel Comics’ vast library of characters and concepts, died Monday, according to THR. He was 95.

Working alongside fellow comics titans like Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby during the 1960s, Lee was instrumental in sparking what became known as “the Marvel revolution,” a shift in superhero comics that emphasized flawed protagonists expressing humanistic values. Concepts and plots remained as colorful and weird as ever. But Marvel characters, written with complex, realistic personalities and mundane private lives, often had to resolve family, dating and even financial challenges while protecting the public from an increasingly packed roster of supervillains.

This new approach to superhero comics debuted in “The Fantastic Four,” a team of superheroes presented as a dysfunctional but loving family unit that Lee co-created with Kirby in 1961. Lee credited his wife, Joan, for

Why 'A Star Is Born' Isn't Wowing Overseas Audiences
Why aren't foreigners going gaga for A Star Is Born?

Bradley Cooper's directorial debut, which features Lady Gaga in her first big-screen leading role, has wowed U.S. critics and audiences alike — earning some $178 million to date at the domestic box office and topping many awards season best-of lists.

But internationally, in many countries at least, A Star Is Born has failed to ignite.

The Warner Bros. release has earned $144.8 million to date outside of North America, just less than 45 percent of its total take of $322.8 million, while studio-style releases of this sort ...

Douglas Rain, Voice of Hal 9000 in ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ Dies at 90
Douglas Rain, who voiced the soft-spoken Hal 9000 robot that went rogue in Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey,” has died. He was 90.

The Stratford Festival, which Rain, who was a dedicated Shakespearean actor, co-founded in 1952, said that Rain had died of natural causes in Stratford, Ont. in Canada.

The festival said Rain performed at the festival for more than 45 years.

“Canadian theatre has lost one of its greatest talents and a guiding light in its development,” the festival’s artistic director, Antoni Cimolino, said in a press release Sunday, according to CTV.

“Douglas Rain was that rare artist: an actor deeply admired by other actors.”

Rain was born in Winnipeg, Man. in 1928, studied at the Old Vic in London, and performed at theaters and festival across Canada. He received a Tony nomination in 1972 for his role in Robert Bolt’s production of “Vivat! Vivat! Regina!”

What the Forky? New ‘Toy Story 4’ Character Explained

What the Forky? New ‘Toy Story 4’ Character Explained
Leave it to “Toy Story” to grapple with the big questions in life. Why are we here? Why are we alive? What is life about? And who — or what — is Forky?

That’s the question confusing many online after Disney and Pixar released the first teaser for “Toy Story 4.” The trailer features the toys prancing in a slow motion circle to the tune of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now,” only for a spork with googly eyes and red pipe cleaners (as voiced by “Veep’s” Tony Hale) to shriek in terror, “I don’t belong here.”

Because Forky may not be a “toy.” Director Josh Cooley explains in the announcement for the teaser that he is an actual spork-turned-craft-project. And though Bonnie, the new young girl and owner of all of Andy’s old toys, plays with Forky as though he were one, he feels he doesn’t belong.

‘Climax’ is Director Gaspar Noé’s Exotic Vision of Hell [Mumbai Film Festival]
Climax is a tragedy in the form of intoxicating sensory experience. An allegory for the collapse of modern society, as several critics have noted, Gaspar Noé’s dance-infused explosion of warring psyches and writhing bodies (backed by the French tricolor) may be, at once, his most abstract work and his most direct. It pulls from a […]

Michael B. Jordan Clarifies Earlier ‘Black Mythology’ Comments, Says He Wants to Bring Those Stories ‘To the Masses’
Michael B. Jordan ruffled some feathers last month when he opined that “we don’t have any mythology, black mythology, or folklore. …Creating our own mythology is very important because…you help people dream.” The actor has now elaborated on that comment in a Qg profile declaring him one of 2018’s Men of the Year: “I meant we don’t have black mythologies and folklore that’s on the big screen and small screen, period,” he said.

“And I want to help bring those to the masses, the same stories, bedtime stories, that I was being told of Anansi the Spider and the story of Hannibal and Mansa Musa and all these historical figures!” Jordan added.

He received much in the way criticism for his initial remarks, which he chose not to expound on until now. The actor has come to great attention in recent years for his roles in

Revisit the Stan Lee and Alain Resnais Sci-Fi Movie That Never Got Made — Watch
Stan Lee has shuffled off this mortal coil, but his legacy lives on. Although he’s best known for Marvel Comics and the ever-expanding cinematic universe based on them, the superhero legend had his fair share of unrealized projects as well. Among them was “The Monster Maker,” a sci-fi screenplay he worked on with “Hiroshima Mon Amour” and “Last Year at Marienbad” auteur Alain Resnais.

In a short documentary produced by the Criterion Collection about the thwarted collaboration, Lee reveals that he became “very, very close friends” with Resnais after receiving a letter from the filmmaker. Resnais even stayed in Lee’s guest house while visiting America. “He actually talked me into writing a screenplay about pollution, the evils of it,” Lee said. Doing so took three weeks, with “The Monster Maker” being fashioned in the style of a Roger Corman movie: inexpensive and pulpy.

“Resnais was really a pleasure to work with,

‘Five Night at Freddy’s’ Movie Script Scrapped, New Script in Works
The movie script for “Five Nights at Freddy’s” was wrapped up and greenlit by both Jason Blum and Chris Columbus, but game creator Scott Cawthon decided to “toss it” because it didn’t match his vision for the movie adaptation, Cawthon posted on the forum for the game Monday.

A film adaptation of “Five Nights at Freddy’s” has been in the works since 2015 when Warner Bros. Pictures acquired the rights to the games. But in 2017, the movie moved over to Blumhouse Productions with producer Jason Blum taking to Twitter to confirm the news. Blumhouse announced that Chris Columbus would be the director of the film, working with Cawthon and Blum. Earlier this year, Cawthon said that the movie would be based on the first game and that subsequent movies would follow the story of the second and third games.

On Monday, Cawthon once more took to the forums

‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Character Posters Tease the Spider-Folks

Sony Pictures has released a series of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse character posters that tease the various versions of “Spider-Man” that appear in the film. The timing of this break is sad, given the news of Stan Lee’s passing, but it’s also a testament to the longevity of his creations. Spider-Man made his debut in popular culture in 1962, in the comic book Amazing Fantasy #15. Now, over 50 years later, the character remains just as relevant. And in the case of Into the Spider-Verse, the evolution of the Spider-Man character is …

Dindal’s credits include “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Chicken Little.” He’s directing from a screenplay by the writing team of Paul Kaplan and Mark Torgove. Pre-production is set to begin next month in Los Angeles.

“You wouldn’t know it, but it’s a feel-good musical,” quipped juror Dan Mirvish, co-founder of Slamdance, who presented the award.
