Nancy Wilson, Grammy-Winning Jazz Singer and TV Personality, Dies at 81
Nancy Wilson, one of the most revered jazz singers of the 20th century, has died, her manager told the Associated Press. She was 81.

The singer passed away at her home in Pioneertown, a small California community north of Palm Springs, after a long illness, according to manager Devra Hall.

Wilson’s three Grammy awards spanned a more than 40-year period, with her first coming in 1965 in the Best Rhythm & Blues category for her Capitol single “How Glad I Am.” Her last was in 2007, awarded for Best Jazz Vocal Album for “Turned to Blue,” her final release. (She had seven nominations in all.) Wilson’s recording career actually dates back to 1959, when she released “Like in Love,” an album arranged by the legendary Billy May.

Outside of the music intelligentsia, Wilson may be remembered by millions of TV viewers who recall her 1974-75 NBC variety series, “The Nancy Wilson Show,.” She

Mary Poppins Returns Doesn't Have a Postcredits Scene but Does Have a Sweet Reference

  • Popsugar
If you're not a fan of waiting through every movie's end credits in case there's a postcredits scene, you'll love Mary Poppins Returns: the latest Disney film does not include a scene during or after the end credits. But if you're a longtime Disneyphile, it's still worth sticking around until the end of the credits for one practically perfect reason.

As with many movies, the music that plays over the end credits of Mary Poppins Returns is a "suite" reprising the major songs and musical motifs from the rest of the film. Most of the five-minute piece of music uses motifs from the new movie's score, by Broadway and TV veterans Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. But if you stay until the very end, one of the last things you'll hear is something very familiar indeed: the melody line of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from the original 1964 film!

Most of us are familiar with the classic story of Mary Poppins, but what about the nanny's life before she tended to the Banks children? While little is known about her past, it's pretty clear that Mary has been to Cherry Tree Lane before. Not only is she familiar with the town, but she's awfully friendly with the chimney sweep, Bert. Though the state of Mary and Bert's relationship has always been a little fuzzy, a popular theory has recently resurfaced ahead of Mary Poppins Returns explaining their interesting bond: Mary Poppins (played by Julie Andrews in the original and Emily Blunt in the sequel) was actually Bert's nanny when he was a kid.

In the very beginning of the film, Bert sets the story by telling the audience, "Wind's in the East/Mist coming in/like something is brewing/about to begin./Can't put me finger/on what lies

Ellen DeGeneres Politely Explains to James Corden That "Bless Your Heart" Is Actually an Insult

Ellen DeGeneres Politely Explains to James Corden That
I'm from North Carolina, so I know what the expression "bless your heart" really means. Adorable Londoner James Corden, however, does not. He hosted Ellen DeGeneres and Patrick Wilson on The Late Late Show With James Corden on Wednesday night, and since the two guests are from parts of the South - Ellen is from Louisiana and Patrick is from Virginia - James asked, "What are your favorite expressions from that part of the world? I've never been."

He explained that he met someone from the South and was trying to park but couldn't get in the space, and the woman said, "Oh, darlin', bless your heart." "I thought, oh, that's the nicest expression you could ever have!" James said. Ellen had to break the news: "It's an insult." She clarified the "compliment" James was given and explained that it was more like, "You poor, stupid person." Patrick chimed in and said,
