If you thought actual reality shows were bad, just be thankful we don't live in the same universe as those unfortunate characters in "Squid Game." The Netflix series famously put millions and millions of viewers in a chokehold during the height of the pandemic in 2021. It's been quite a long wait to see what happens next after season 1's shocking ending left fans with more questions than answers, not the least of which involved the identity of the mysterious figure running the morbid games in the first place and, more importantly, the uncertain fates of our surviving characters. Considering what a pop cultural phenomenon this South Korean survival/horror series turned into, it was only a matter of time before the streaming platform decided to return to the scene of the crime and recreate that success in a second season.
That time has finally arrived; "Squid Game" season 2 has now been made available to critics,...

When Squid Game first landed on Netflix back in 2021, it became a global phenomenon. A brutal, bloody, brilliant South Korean satire on class warfare with a sort of Parasite-meets-Battle Royale premise, creator Hwang Dong-hyuk’s show — in which childhood favourite games form the basis for a deadly tournament with a life-changing cash prize — remains the most viewed show the streamer has ever made. So now, as Lee Jung-jae’s Prisoner 456 prepares to re-enter the arena in Squid Game Season 2 this Boxing Day, the question on everyone’s lips is: How exactly do you make a follow-up to the biggest show on Netflix?
As showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk tells Empire in our world-exclusive Andor Season 2 issue, while he’s certainly felt the pressure of being the man charged with answering that question, he’s confident he’s found a way — even if doing so has come at no small cost. “I believe...

When Seong tries to explain he’s played the games before, another player wonders “Why the hell would you come crawling back?” before leading a chant of “One more game!” among his fellow players. Watch the teaser below.

Oh my goodness! The Squid Game season 2 teaser is only one minute long, but it has me so hyped to get back into this nail-biting world and begin the game once again. And Player 456, aka Seong Gi-hun, is back in the game as well. What are his motives? We'll get into some theories, but first check out the video released by Netflix.
As revealed above, Gi-hun suits up once again to get back into the game. Now where we left off at the end of season 1, he had vowed to get revenge on those controlling the game. So I'm assuming he wants to find a way to shut it down. Though according to the synopsis, it's been three years since his bittersweet victory. So are those still his motives?
Plus, we see the Front Man himself show up at Gi-hun's door. Why does he want Player 456 back in the game?...

Squid Game shattered all expectations when it premiered on Netflix back in 2021, quickly becoming the most-watched season of television in the streamer's history. The Korean-language drama told the story of Seong Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae), a desperate man who entered into a competition where he and other contestants competed in children's games for a life-changing amount of money—the snag being that if they lost, they died.
The show was a phenomenon, resonating with viewers around the globe. Even though the first season wrapped up neatly, it was always a foregone conclusion we were going to get more. Netflix has even launched a gameshow, Squid Game: The Challenge, based on the series. Whether that's missing the point of the show or not, I leave to you to decide.
Now, at long last, we have a new teaser for Squid Game season 2. Seong Gi-hun is back in the game:

Now that everyone's finally stopped gushing about season 1, the sophomore season of "Squid Game" is (hopefully) almost here. The horror-tinged dystopian thriller about a group of participants tricked into playing deadly versions of childhood games debuted back in 2021 and quickly became a cultural phenomenon. Originally planned as a limited series, the wild success of "Squid Game" led to its season 2 renewal, and it took some time to pull together a continuation of the story.
Will lightning strike twice for "Squid Game," or is it a premise that's about played out? We won't know until we see more of season 2, but everything we do know indicates that the show will be even more ambitious in its second outing. Season 1 exposed the corruption and greed behind the killer gameplay, but season 2 seems poised to dig deeper into the systems that enable the games as winner Gi-hun continues to be impacted by the...

Gyeongseong Creature is loosely based on the tragic lethal experiments conducted by the Japanese imperial army on the Chinese and Koreans. Unit 731, as it was called, was a unit of the Japanese imperial army that conducted human experiments to create bio-weapons in the 1930s and 1940s. This is when the TV show moves away from reality and creates a fantastical creature that can destroy entire cities. The main question the show poses is: Who were the real monsters? Of course, the most obvious answer is the members of the imperial army, who ruthlessly conducted these experiments with no remorse. In this fictional tale, a man named Tae-Sang is sent on a mission to find a woman for a police commissioner. Slowly, he starts to discover the truth about this hospital.

We’re only two episodes in, and already there are a lot of confusing turns in The Worst of Evil. As expected, the show is extremely violent and leaves nothing to the imagination. Of course, all the actors are commendable in their roles, and to see Wi Ha-Joon and Ji Chang-Wook team up together is a real delight. Additionally, this is like a comeback to action for Ji Chang-Wook, and a fitting one at that. According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, Squid Game may have increased the value of Netflix by nearly $1 billion. “‘Squid Game’ turned out to be a bargain beyond compare,” reads the LA Times report. “Made for about $2.4 million an episode, about a fourth the cost of ‘Stranger Things,’ the nine-part series went on to win six Emmys, set a Netflix record of 1.65 billion viewing hours in its first 28 days of release and — according to internal Netflix documents — increase the value of the company by an estimated $900 million.“

Netflix’s most-watched series ever, South Korean death-match drama Squid Game, unveiled new and returning cast for its wildly anticipated second season over the weekend.
The surviving stars of season one — Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-Hun, Wi Ha-joon and Gong Yoo — will all be back for more, Netflix revealed at its Tudum fan event in Brazil on Saturday.
Announced newcomers include four male stars: Im Siwan (formerly of K-pop group Ze:a and known for film roles like The Attorney and Emergency Declaration), Kang Ha Neul (from K-dramas like Midnight Runners, When the Camellia Blooms), Park Sung Hoon (Netflix’s Korean hit The Glory) and Yang Dong Geun (from Disney+’s popular K-drama Connect).
In the wake of the announcement, some fans took to social media to ask why no female castmembers had been unveiled — especially after the breakout popularity of model-turned-actress HoYeon Jung from season one.

Over the past few years, I have become heavily immersed in K-content and K-dramas on a personal and professional level. Many hours have been spent watching the same perfectly executed tropes in various genres, from crime thrillers to romance K-dramas. Some dramas have won my heart and become favorites, like the teen romance True Beauty. But there is no denying that not all K-dramas were spectacular. K-dramas like Inspector Koo and a few others did not hold my interest and were unfinished.
Unfinished K-dramas ‘Inspector Koo,’ ‘Forecasting Love and Weather,’ and ‘Bad and Crazy’ | via Jtbc ‘Inspector Koo’ lacked the riveting edge of a murder mystery
It is not often that a crime K-drama has a female character as the heinous killer. The 2021 Netflix K-drama Inspector Koo made me excited as two female actors would lead the storyline. The storyline had a fun quirkiness that seemed like a good investment.
