Abubakar Khan

Abubakar Khan is a seasoned producer with a diverse portfolio in feature films and shorts. He is currently producing Running Dry, a Saudi-funded eco-thriller shot in Turkey, and Diary of a Muslim Cynic, a fiction feature supported by the Sundance Institute. Abubakar recently managed production on Mustache (Dir. Imran J. Khan), which won the Audience Award at SXSW 2023, and served as the Head of Business Affairs for Queen of Bones (Dir. Robert Budreau/Produced by Appian Way). His experience extends to television as a Business Affairs Associate at Lark Productions (Law & Order Toronto, Allegiance, Farming For Love). With twelve short films under his belt, he has a proven track record in filmmaking's creative and operational aspects. Abubakar holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, enhancing his expertise in managing complex productions with precision and efficiency. He is the former Vice-Chair of the Canadian Media Producers Association, a Canadian Film Centre Norman Jewison Producers' Lab graduate, and an alum of the Canadian Academy Executive Residency Program. He is currently pursuing an Executive MBA.
