Daniel Farrell(IV)

Known for his innovative soundscapes and impactful melodies, Daniel Farrell is a rising talent in the world of film and media music. Daniel grew up in the world of marching band; leading drum and brass lines throughout his years in school. This has had a resounding effect on his musical output as a composer - often meshing percussive textures with delicately crafted melodies. Daniel's music has been heard in award-winning films, shorts, television, podcasts, and videogames. As an immigrant to the United States, Daniel is committed to marginalized stories and believes that film holds an important social responsibility to elevate unheard voices. His most recent work - Anamnesis - has earned him critical acclaim; winning Best Soundtrack at the New York International Film Awards, a nomination for Best Original Score at the Los Angeles International Film Festival, and winning Best Original Score at the prestigious Prague International Indie Film Festival against several Academy Award nominees and winners. Daniel was selected to the prestigious 2020 ASCAP/Columbia Workshop Composer Spotlight and the 2020 SCL Mentorship Program.

His work for post-production sound (editing, design/foley, mixing) has led him to win praise for his technical skill on the MT Short's Still Here - a musical exploring moving on from the grief of losing a partner - and Two Tickets to Mars - a short film exploring the relationship between two friends in a post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama. Daniel also works frequently in the world of podcasting and new media. He has composed the original themes for several podcast series including The Backlight Podcast and Things (Un)Said. His sound design and editing for Things (Un)Said has earned him a reputation for being attentive to the immersion required for narrative and audio drama podcast series.

Daniel Farrell's music for the concert stage has seen performances at festivals across the globe such as the Atlantic Music Festival, Cortona Sessions for New Music, Valencia International Performance Academy and Festival (VIPA), New Music on the Bayou, as well as performances in Michigan, Florida, New York, Alabama, Louisiana, Maine, Mexico, Italy, and Spain. Daniel is the recipient of several awards; most notably the Chamber Music OC's 2018 Emerging Artist award - awarded to the best work from a composer under 25 and judged by Pulitzer-winner John Corigliano, John Dooley, and Vera Ivanova. Daniel was also a finalist for Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra's 2018-2019 Call for Scores alongside distinguished Pulitzer-nominated composers such as Ted Hearne and Caroline Shaw.

Daniel holds a Master of Music in Screen Scoring from New York University and a Bachelor of Music in Music Composition & Theory from Jacksonville University. Daniel currently works locally and remotely from his residence in New York, NY. Daniel works as the Audio Team Leader for Motion Array (part of the Artlist family).
