Rik Zak (born August 4, 1951) is a writer and independent filmmaker. He was born in Canada. He studied design and advertising at the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary. In 1976 he and his wife Rita moved to New York City to study advertising, design and illustration at the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City with Richard Wilde, Milton Glaser, Ron Travisano and Marshall Arisman. He then worked in Manhattan for years as a Creative Director at Schroeder Inc., a New York content and brand development agency with clients worldwide. In Williamsburg, Brooklyn, Rik met Shaolin kung fu Master Woo Chai Meng and began his decades-long journey as one of his senior disciples. Rik is also a Professor Emeritus at the Alberta University of the Arts and a self-taught filmmaker. He studied with John Truby and has Certificates of Excellence in the Truby Screenwriting Program and Philosophy in Story Programs.
