Martin Rustandi, also known as Martin Chen or by his Mandarin name Chen Wen Liang, is an Indonesian-Taiwanese film director based in Taiwan. He co-founded The Rustandi Ltd with his wife, Gwyneth Rustandi, and has made a notable impact on both the Indonesian and Taiwanese film industries.
Martin's directorial credits include The Machine (in association with Knowledge Network), which was broadcast on Knowledge Network and Discovery Asia.
In 2017, Martin became the first Indonesian-Taiwanese film director to release a theatrical film in Taiwan with his feature documentary The Road Less Traveled. The film won several awards, including Best Pitch (2017 CCDF), the ASD Award (2017 CCDF), and the Fareast Transvideo x CCDF Award (2017). It was also selected for major international events such as CCDF 2017, Asian Side Of The Doc 2018, and Crossing Borders 2018.
As of 2024, Martin is in development on two fiction films, Ola: The Shadow of Memory and In The Shadow of Luck. He is also working on a mini-documentary series titled Not Far From Home, which focuses on the stories of Indonesian immigrants in Taiwan.
