- Andrew Polyviou was born in Tottenham, London, United Kingdom, to parents of Greek Cypriot descent. Although he often played the lead role in many school theatre productions, Andrew decided to follow his artistic nature of Art & Design by attending the University of Hertfordshire, graduating with an Honorary Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2006. In 2008, Polyviou further qualified himself to become a teacher and started his post teaching A-Level Photography in a North London secondary school. From this moment on, Andrew enjoyed a successful career in teaching, as well as being an independent artist and photographer.
In 2014, Andrew Polyviou was diagnosed with a life-threatening cancer, but thanks to a fantastic team of doctors at the University College London Hospital, he successfully overcame it. During this period, Andrew spent much of his time in Cyprus and the Scottish Isles while using Art Therapy as a key tool for his mental and physical recovery. He produced a variety of experimental works on canvas and glass, 30 of which went on display at his debut Art Exhibition 'Frequencies Awakening'. in Marylebone, London 2018.
Andrew's spiritual awakening also allowed him to rediscover his love for acting and film making, bringing 'Film Skool' to his students. In five years, Andrew helped to produce 28 short movies, all premiering at the Curzon Cinema in Mayfair, London, annually. It was here, where he was spotted by award winning director, Monshur Alam, who is responsible for casting Andrew as the main lead in the 2019 short movie, 'The Barbershop'. It had impressive international success with various film festivals across the globe as well as a gaining a 3 year deal with an American cable TV channel. Andrew was praised for his role as the main character using a wide range of emotions and facial expressions throughout. In 2019 Andrew teamed up with fellow film maker and expert sound recordist Lee Viesnik, where they co-produced 'Robin of Oakwood'. A story idea which Andrew created during a chemotherapy session in 2015 at the Macmillan Centre in London. Andrew featured as a Greek Cypriot barber in London yet again. He was also instrumental in securing all locations which revealed his hidden skills as a producer. The 2020 lockdown gave Andrew the opportunity to write a comical fantasy series about an aspiring Snooker player in London. He produced the pilot episode of 'Join the Cue' in 2021 which was directed by the esteemed Kathryn O'Reilly and is due to be released sometime in 2023. 'Da MODfather' is another comedy series that Andrew wrote but this time also directed.
