Ruth is a theatre-trained Actor (BA Theatre Nepean, Uni Western Sydney), puppeteer (Terrapin Puppet Theatre), and improviser (ImproACT). She lives in suburban Canberra with her teenage sons, husband, cocker spaniel and ginger cat, and has performed in several professional stage shows at The Street Theatre. Ruth is a trained Drama Teacher (UWS) and teaches Drama and Improv in schools, and has done so all over Australia including Tas, NSW and ACT for more than 25 years.
Ruth plays a regular simulated patient with ANU Medical School and is known as Dr Whoops - a resident uke-playing Clown Doctor at The Canberra Hospital for The Humour Foundation. Ruth trains regularly in Chubbuck & Meisner techniques, as well as frequenting tv casting workshops with TAFTA and self-tape practice with Greg Apps and the TAT Graduate community program. She is Ruth is a proud MEAA Ambassador, a feminist, and an Advisory Committee Board member for The Canberra Theatre Centre.
