Singer. Songwriter. Arranger. Multi-Instrumentalist. Producer - Eric
Matthews has had a storied career. In 1994 Matthews debuted as one half of the band Cardinal with singer-songwriter Richard Davies. Their self titled album was at the forefront of the indie-rock movement, and remains to this day a high-water mark of the genre. Eric followed up the success of Cardinal with the release of his solo debut "It's Heavy In Here" on Sub Pop records in 1995. Heavy rotation of the hit single "Fanfare" on MTV led to a 2nd album on Sub Pop The Lateness of the Hour (1997), as well as collaborations with artists ranging from The Dandy Warhols to Elliot Smith.
Since 1997, Eric has continued a streak of critically acclaimed and thought provoking orchestral pop records: Six Kinds of Passion Looking For An Exit (2005), Foundation Sounds (2006), and The Imagination Stage (2008), followed by albums with his bands Seinking Ships (2010), Cardinal's long awaited 2nd album "Hymns" (2012), and SheLoom's "The Baron of the Fjord" (2015). All this leads us to this this critical point where "Too Much World (2017)" finally arrives. Eric Matthews returns to the solo record game, a one man wrecking crew intact and ready for another run, a run of his own.
