Lance was born in Houston, Texas to Marsha and David. He grew up in West Houston along with his older sister, Laura. At age 12, Lance discovered his passion for skateboarding. The creative nature of skateboarding drew him to photography, which led to his love of filmmaking. This newfound creative outlet materialized in a number of short films that he made for he and his friends.
His photography work gained the attention of local Houston media outlets. Soon after, Lance began acquiring clients as a freelance videographer before accepting his first film set role as assistant director of The Extrovert (2017) in 2015.
His first short film, The Gold Line (2016), about a group of young skateboarders was selected by the Houston Film Commission's Texas Filmmaker's Showcase to play at the Directors Guild of America in Los Angeles, as well as film festivals around the country.
In 2020, Lance completed his first narrative short film, Sky, about a young pianist who struggles to find relief from his severe Obsessive Compulsive Order. So far, the film was nominated by the International Christian Film Festival for Best Short Film, and nominated Augustus Cosby, the lead actor, for Best Actor in a Short Film. The film will begin its film festival run in mid-2020.
