Mini Bio (1)
Maya Angelou once said if there's a book you want to read and can't find it ... write it. Writer/director Michael Domino has been writing most of his life. First poetry; then short stories; followed by novellas; and soon novels.
His writing topics are diverse and range from Manhattan street life to the Vietnam War; 1930's gangsters; and a newly created private-detective character named Bobby Fallon. What adds to Domino's compelling works of fiction are the historical and modern-day references he bases many on.
He has also delved into making experimental films based on his stories and books which led to his first short feature The Expediter and the award-winning full-length feature film Mott Haven.
Mott Haven starring Robert Davi, Chuck Zito, and Paul Wilson is a Bronx-Centric redemption film based on Domino's short story Park Avenue to Park Bench. The movie is being distributed by SP Releasing and Jared Safier Entertainment with a late-summer 2021 release date.
Camp Hero, the first novel featuring the character of Bobby Fallon, has already stirred the interest of the movie world with several producers and studios eyeing a franchise based on the character of Detective Fallon.
Camp Hero, centered in Montauk, Long Island, Domino sets the story around many actual locations there, which materialized into an instant demand for the book. Domino secretly distributed select copies of the book to retail outlets on the East End; again, quietly building an instant demand.
Domino observes ... and then creates - proving a formula made for exciting fiction married to true life occurrences and places.
Nurturing a lifelong fascination with photography, Domino has said that many of his ideas have been based on his photography exploits:
"Writing is a gift that resonates in me every day. I'm not sure exactly where the ideas come from, but there's no shortage ... trust me."
Domino was born in New York City; raised in Huntington, Long Island; is married to his wife of 30 years, Betty; and has three grown daughters. He splits his time between Manhattan and Central Florida and is still involved in his private plastics recycling business based in Long Island.
"I'm fortunate that I can indulge myself in this gift."
