John Lombardy Beckham is a filmmaker and musician from Prince George's County, Maryland.
He is the creator, co-director and a producer of the SHOWTIME sports documentary "Basketball County," about his Maryland home and why it has become the most prominent area for the sport. Brady Langmann of Esquire gave the film a positive review, comparing it favorably to The Last Dance mini-series.
During post-production of Basketball County, John would start production on "Pizza People," a short documentary about his brother's love for pizza and the opening of his acclaimed pizzeria. Pizza people would go on to win best short at the 2020 Seoul International Food Film Festival.
After Basketball County and Pizza People, John was brought on by The Rivere Foundation to Direct, Write and Produce the "The Diabetes Solution'' released On-Demand Tuesday, Nov. 9th. 2021. The Diabetes Solution opened at #3 on the iTunes Documentary list. The Knockturnal writes "The Diabetes Solution offers an intimate and real look into the lives of people and families who are impacted every day by type 1 diabetes. Through a series of interviews - both heartfelt and informative - the documentary illustrates how dietary changes and insulin strategies can make a significant difference in patients' lives."
During the pandemic, John Directed and edited his first narrative short with long-time collaborator Simon Kim. Entitled "20FN20", it is a dark comedy time capsule about the ridiculousness of the year 2020. It would go on to be an official selection at the Seattle Film Festival, Malibu International Film Festival, SoCal Film Festival, and become a semi-finalist at the Flickers Rhode Island film festival.
In 2022 John produced multiple music videos for the garage rock project "Hyattsvillain." The slasher film inspired music video for "Ugly on the Inside" would become a nominee at the Atlanta Horror Film Fest, as well as an official selection at the Austin Lift Off Festival and Bare Bones International Film Festival.
Prior to film, John produced various music projects, including the Glorification of Gangster soundtrack and the debut album from lowercase letters. He also wrote the short film, 'The Most Wicked Storm,' an animated fable inspired by Shel Silverstein's 'The Giving Tree' and a childhood prank.
