New Summer of 84 Clip and Poster Channels The 'Burbs

The movie is about to hit select theaters next month after premiering at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. The film looks like The Goonies, but if it were a horror movie instead, meaning it's basically tailor-made for fans of Stranger Things and the latest adaptation of It, with less supernatural features and more of a focus on the 1980s.

The first teaser trailer released for Summer of 84 gained a bunch of excitement for the movie and the new Comic-Con clip provides a reference to one of the most chilling scenes in the original teaser where the kitchen light is turned on. The kids seem to be getting in a little over their heads as they enter what they believe to be a vacant house.

Sundance 2018 Review: Summer Of ’84 is a Brutally Fun and Heartbreaking Blast from the Past

  • DailyDead
Like most genre fans, I fell head over heels for Turbo Kid, the first feature from the filmmaking trio Rkss (François Simard, Anouk Whissell, and Yoann-Karl Whissell) that transported viewers to a post-apocalyptic future where BMX bikes and friendship rule over the savageness of the brand new world. For their follow-up feature, Rkss heads back to the Reagan Era for their genre-defying Summer of ’84, a murder mystery/slasher/coming-of-age comedy hybrid that confidently explores the triumphs and tribulations of being a teenager, all while delivering a horrifying tale that conjures up some really fun scares along the way.

In the Summer of ’84, we meet 15-year-old Davey (Graham Verchere), who’s obsessed with mysteries and conspiracy theories. He begins to suspect that his neighbor, Officer Mackey (Rich Sommer), might actually be the Cape May Killer, a kidnapper and murderer targeting teenaged boys who live in the idyllic suburban neighborhoods of the area.
