Broadcast writer-director Sean Grieve grew up on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
At 11 years old, Sean took to studying and practicing photography. He developed an interest in acting and took lead roles in high school productions. Near the end of high school, Sean began experimenting with short films and, after graduating, he accepted an unconditional offer to study at one of the UK's leading universities for film production, Screen Academy Scotland.
In recognition of his verve, Sean was awarded a one-year scholarship to study filmmaking in New York City and, during his four year degree, he wrote and directed a slate of short films between the UK and US. He graduated from Screen Academy Scotland with a specialisation in writing-directing.
Discover Scotland: North Coast 500 (2020) was Sean's first foray into producing and directing a long-form project, and the documentary was latterly acquired and broadcast by STV (at the time unprecedented for the Scottish broadcaster). Sean was later mentored by producer Gareth Ellis-Unwin through the ScreenSkills mentorship programme.
Sean lives in Edinburgh, Scotland.
